I was actually on another bands site going on and on about my love for Disintegration. Don't get me wrong I love all the Cure albums but Disintegration is on a whole other level. For me it is the perfect album, every song compliments the other. The album has almost an aura about it, I never tire of listening to it, it is just part of my life, like a friend that you have had forever. I love every song on the album but if I had to choose a favorite or favorites it would be Prayers For Rain and Same Deep Water As You. Those songs for me are the heart of the album but I feel that album has many hearts.
This all started the other day when I was going on about how much I love the new Mixed Up 3 cd set and again I was going on about it on another bands site. So a member over there that is also a member here suggested I become a member here.
So here I am, I am a musician, I am a singer/songwriter I play guitar, piano, bass and program drums. I write constantly almost a song a day which is something that Prince use to do but he would master his recordings I just demo mine and if I feel a certain track requires going further than I go further with the track. I have over 500 songs that I have written and it is an obsession with me but a double edged sword. I suffer from bipolar depression II which means I just suffer the lows and never really get the mania part basically I never get the highs. Songwriting helps me chase away my demons of depression which is why my band is called Demons & Ghosts. I am also a horror movie sci-fi nut so it all kind of comes together that way.
I have learned a lot about this disease and this will probably the most I will ever talk about it, I think it needs to be talked about, too many people suffer from it but you have to find your own way out, to pull yourself out of the depression and for me it is songwriting.
Once the creative part of my brain is activated it almost becomes addictive and I just keep writing and before I know I am not depressed anymore I am alive and energized through creativity.
I will post some of my music here if that is allowed (please be kind, criticism is fine as long as it is constructive).
I guess you could say I am a goth all my clothes are black everything in my house is black accept for my two cats and my tarantula.
We have rehearsed a lot of The Cure songs with my band we have only played Lovesong and Fascination Street live usually at the end of the set, I like to play one Cure song and one Bowie song.
David Bowie is another one of my favorite artists as well as Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, NIN, Depeche Mode, Prince, Bob Dylan and it goes on and on.
As much as I love The Head At The Door, Wish, Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography, it is Disintegration that is in my top ten favorite albums of all time. With the list of artist I just gave there is a lot of competition to be in the top ten.
I love San Francisco it is the only city that has beaches, mountains, forests, fog it is almost the perfect setting for a horror movie. It is a free spirit city where it doesn't matter what you are or what you are into there is no judgement which is nice. The only downfall is the traffic, cost of living and earthquakes, its a fun city and I hope the Cure come here soon and play a live show.
I probably went on too long I will try and keep short in the future.
So HELLO!
