I always used to think that gardening was a 'middle-aged' thing but now I love it (I'm sure it's a coincidence that it's because I'm now middle-aged).
I always wanted a large garden & at the previous house I bought the garden was 250ft long. Starting with a blank canvass after 3 years of hard work the garden looked stunning. I was forced to sell the house and was more upset at losing the fauna & flora than the bricks & mortar.
I then spent 10 months in an apartment with no greenery whatsoever before moving into my new home. Another blank canvass but its getting there.

What are your plans/hopes for your new green space? In an apartment, I’m limited to container gardening.
I’ve loved gardening since I was little and had my own, small set of tools. Maybe I was born middle-aged. 😐

The soil is very sandy so it's largely a case of seeing what grows. There are a few established plants and we're very fortunate because we look out onto farmland/fields.
If you look closely at the picture you may be able to see Evie & Arthur at the bottom of the garden. They are Shetland Ponies. A couple of years ago someone called out the Fire Service because they thought that they were full sized horses sinking in the mud!

Working on my container garden was on my to-do list and today I managed to get any remaining repotting done as well as give the balcony a good sweep and rearrange.
I am really proud that I successfully propagated my neighbor's magnolia tree to the tune of four little seedlings! I collected the seeds from her plant in the fall, stratified them in my fridge over winter, planted in early April and it worked! For a long time I thought nothing at all was going to happen. Given I only planted about 7 or 8 seeds, that was a high rate of return! What I'll do with four magnolia trees, I have no idea. I have promised one to a friend.
Lots of native plants on the balcony this year.
Herman Cornejo the boxwood is looking glorious, as is Diego the fern, whose shape is giving me RS hair vibes.
