Hello! Long-time fan from Ohio.
Until two years ago, the last time I’d seen the Cure live was front row center floor seats for the Prayer Tour. The Disintegration album and this band and that show were so important to me I vowed never to see them again live because no one likes to see their heroes age. Then at the beginning of 2016 we lost Bowie and then Prince (two artists I was fortunate to see live), and although I have always been a frequent concert-goer, I decided life is too short and I’m going to any and all concerts I can before we lose more greats.
My wife and I snagged tickets to one of their MSG shows in June 2016, and we have tickets to the Hyde Park show (bringing along our teenage son this time, too).
Looking forward to next summer, and the conversation here keeping that excitement going!
Hi, weedyburton79! You have wandered into a great place in this forum.
You saw them on the Prayer Tour?! Man, I wish so much I had.
The shows at the Garden were great. Time is indeed flying.
I do not think you will regret seeing them again this summer. I think it's wise to seize the opportunity, although I respect your decision to abstain for so many years. To thine own self be true.
So great to plan a family vacay to see them in July. In the mean time, soak up all the media and conversation you can here.

Thanks. Yeah, the Garden show absolutely lived up to my memory and expectations from seeing them the last time 25+ years earlier. My wife and I were both at the same Prayer Tour stop, but didn’t know each other at the time, so the NYC show was the first time we saw this band that was so influential and important to us back in the day together in a city we love! We were at the Sunday night show. Which did you attend?

I like stories where you were at the same thing as someone else but didn't know them at the time. My husband and I were two of seven people at a NYE party a few years before we started dating but didn't realize we had both been there until years later.
I went to all three nights. Why should a simple river and a simply unreliable mass transit system keep me from my all time favorite band? Save

I love this! My wife and I have what we refer to as a shared history apart. We both grew up in the late ‘80s Northeast Ohio punk scene, which was small and pretty insular. When we finally met through a mutual friend years later, we realized we went to so many of the same show and bars and had numerous shared acquaintances from back in the day. In addition to the same Cure show, we were both at the same New Order/PiL/Sugarcubes show, Bowie show I mentioned earlier, a bunch of NIN shows, and on and on. Crazy small world!
Regarding those NYC shows a couple years ago… It seemed the setlist got progressively more old school each night. Since I was only able to attend one of them, I was very happy with our KMKMKM heavy setlist that particular night!
Howdy again weedyburton79 Fellow state-side fan here, but a couple states over in Illinois. Think this upcoming show will definitely be pulling people wide and far. Happy posting and welcome again!
