Hey, if someone else would like to have a chat about astrology, we can chat here! I know I´m esoteric sometimes, I stand up to it ;-) Is someone there? Oh wait, let me just post Robert´s birth chart here. Hope someone´s gonna answer so I´ll know I´m not the only esoteric maniac out here...
Would you like to explain that picture for the non-astrologers please?
Hi BlueHughes, sure, can do that. Will take a while though. (You know, basically, all planets stand for certain things in your life , e g Moon: one´s mother, one´s emotional life, often also the way someone behaves in general Venus: one´s gusto/love life/soft spot Mars: the way one fights/tries to impress/draws one´s strength from, also sexuality Mercury: the way one communicates and speaks and the signs they stand in represent attributes and character traits, e g Libra: harmonic, charming, peaceful person that loves beauty Gemini: talkative, witty sign that loves to learn Cancer: homy, susceptible, cares very much for their family Aries: likes to take the lead; a little aggressive sometimes; quick and fiery And then there are the houses that also represent parts of your life, e g 1st house: the way you look and the how you come across to others 5th house: how you treat kids, how you like to have fun 3rd house: what your education is like, the way you talk; your relationship with your siblings and your school life 12th house: what you´re like when you´re alone So you have to combine. Yeah, takes some time. There are 12 planets, 12 houses, twelve 12 signs in each and every person´s birth chart. I´ll upload some interpratation stuff in, say, a week, okay?
Would have liked to edit something in my thread but unfoortunately, it won´t work, so I´ll put it here instead-- this is the list of Robert´s planets and houses in words: SUN in Aries/Taurus MOON in Libra in House III MERCURY in Aries in IX VENUS in Gemini in XI MARS in Cancer in XII JUPITER in Scorpio/Sag in V SATURN in Capricorn in VI URANUS in Leo in I NEPTUNE in Scorpio in IV PLUTO in Virgo in II RISING SIGN (AC) [= House I] in Leo
Ah, right, and in astrology, you also consider the relationships between the different planets. For example, if they form a square, it means that the planets hardly work together and are prohibiting each other, if they form a conjunction, what the planets stand for cannot be separated and if they form a trine it means they support each other. You know...
Hang on a minute. How long have there been 12 planets? Ever since Pluto was downgraded, I count only 8.
Astrologically speaking, 12 "planets". Sun, Moon, Mercury. Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto and the "rising sign" which is not really a planet but has a similiar function in someone´s chart so I count that one in. Plus, there are two minor "planets," like pluto, which are called Chiron and Lilith and which most astrologers count on, too

Okay, I see the count there, but the sun & the moon aren't planets. The sun is a star & the moon is a satellite. That's not an opinion either. It's scientific fact. Pluto would scrape by as a planet, but people in silly suits have told the world it isn't. I'm genuinely curious, as a non-believer in astrology, how this is supposed to work.
Sorry, decide is the wrong word. I'm just asking what the above represents and how the 'in <starsign>' part is chosen.
Oh! Well, since I´m not Robert Smith, I don´t know much about astronomy. But as the planets whirl around the sun, they cross the various star signs. The velocity in which they do so depends very much on the planet, though. For example, Pluto takes a few decades to pass one sign, wheareas the moon enters a new sign every two days or so. And there are pages like astro.cafeastrology.com/natal.php or alabe.com/freechart/default.asp or horoscopes.astro-seek.com/birth-chart-horoscope-online where as you enter a certain point of time, you get a chart and a list of the positions of the planets at just that time, for free, of course. There is also a quick explanation for what everything means.
In the chart above, the symbols just around the circle represent the planets. The symbols internal of the circle represent the star signs, and the numbers that divide the cirlce into 12 parts are the houses. I know, complicated, right? ...
Okay, so far I'm getting it, but you need to take the earth out of the list of planets because all the positions of the constellations & other planets are relative to earth, or as viewed from earth. So earth cannot possibly be one of the 12 unless it stays constant. So if a birth chart is the relative positions of celestial bodies at time of birth, given that those bodies move at different rates, that would mean birthdays would need an entirely new chart & thus change the character traits of that person as arbitrarily designated on the day of their birth. Am I close?
