Looks like Lol set up an event to show The Cure in Orange at the Cinematic Void in LA on April 21st.
Sounds like he will be promoting Cured...
These are the details on the facebook event page...
(not sure if this should be in the Lol thread or not since it is tech about showing TCIO....)
The Cure in Orange on 35mm
Founding The Cure member Lol Tolhurst will be in person for a Q&A along with selling/signing copies of his memoir, CURED - The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys.
Lol Tolhurst is a musician, writer and performer.
He is best known as a founding member of the band that virtually invented alternative music, The Cure. Formed in 1976, The Cure is one of the most influential, successful and critically acclaimed bands of its generation.
As The Cure’s drummer, Lol toured the globe many times over, supporting the ground-breaking albums Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography. He took on keyboard duties in the mid-eighties until his departure from the band in 1989, at the time of their masterwork Disintegration.
In the early nineties, Lol relocated to Southern California where he continues to write, record and tour with his own band, Levinhurst.
More recently, 2011 saw a momentous reunion tour with his former bandmates and Lol performing with The Cure again for the first time in over twenty years.
Lol’s first book was published in 2016. Cured - The Tale Of Two Imaginary Boys is a memoir that draws together the threads of his life and art... so far!
If this place is a real movie theater, it would be great to watch The Cure in Orange in the dark on a big screen! Makes me wonder if this is something I could get my local art house theater to do
So the event on facebook is being promoted to "celebrate Robert Smith's birthday" ---- Is it me or is this kind of tacky? I mean, unless Rob is going to be there, I wouldn't use his birthday as an excuse to promote the event. Unless of course they string banners and drop balloons in his honor. and bring out a cake. there better be cake!
i have never seen show for some odd reason either. part of the cure curse that i finally broke last year...have seen orange via youtube but it not the same.

I just read this. I always thought there was only one show on 9th August 86. Can anyone confirm this? I wasn't able to find further info... I'm going to visit this spot in February. I've been there many years ago but i want to have a look if there are any preparations for another cure-show...

Nope. There was only the one show, but I remember reading that they filmed some shots the following day. I might need to visit my books to confirm that though edit: From Ten Imaginary Years page 103
