I know it's already been said but hopefully 'as part of this year's offerings' means there's more stuff to be released soon. Someone official chose to word it like that.
I can't imagine the reason why they are doing it. I really can't.
It's not the band. It's Universal. & it's about $$. That's the thing that bugs me most of all. Universal will make all the money from a cr@p product (apart from the cretins who will have it on evilbay within 20 seconds of the day starting). Moreover (& this is pretty well known) Universal do not even ask the pressing plants to de-burr the master plates before they start pressing. There's absolutely no control over the quality of the product because they know full well that over 80% of people that buy new vinyl never play it.

You mean this specific release? Ouh well answer is simple enough.Their rights are under of UMG ,so the company decides no matter the opinion of RS. And second answer is for the hype of this RSD event... They had something to release. So even a picture wall disc is better than nothing. I'm sure steve will say the opposite though.
p.s. : new album you said? I'm sure you mean the second pt of '4:13' right? Hmmm... Maybe Someday it will see the light of day. Still waiting for those un-released songs to be as a free (gift) download form the official site as Robert said some years ago...

Here's hoping. Still waiting.
Bit optimistic I think Mark. But I like your thinking I read "offerings" to mean the Record Store Day offerings rather than The Cure offerings
figie; no, no, I like Just Say Yes! I don't think they will ever release the second half of 4:13 and I am A-OK with that. I want a brand new album with new meaning. Although if Robert has to reach into his lyric bag to pull something out, I am okay with that too. BlueHughes; Robert says a lot... hopefully he means it this time.... steve; if the band isn't going to see any revenue from it, why promote it? I am sure they will get something... (?)

It's prolly just to let people know they are still active. But the official site is run by interscope & not the band per se. I'm sure Robert has input when they need to plug tours & stuff, but go click on the store buttons & you'll see quite quickly it's not run by The Cure.

Remember when Roger used to run the site? I miss those days..... it was updated all the time. And way more user-friendly.
I wonder what kind of 'talks' there is between Robert and Universal, if any.
I don't think Robert would bother wanting to release something for that kind of event, he has never done (well, very very very rarely), even if he was asked, so Universal re-release something for RSD just like they have done for many years. Simple as that.

Firing Roger back in 2005 was still one of the worst decisions Smith ever made. Perry I can sort of understand because Porl was coming back (there's no reason they couldn't both be in the band though ala the Wish Tour), but what did poor old Roger do to deserve being sacked?

I heard there was some animosity in the band... like between Simon and Roger... but I don't know how true that is... they seem to be bff now, so who knows?
Robert has been quoted saying something about not everyone getting along...
