I don't think it's criticism, it's "bewilderment", why three photograph books released so close together? I imagine all these photographers talk to each other as they're all in the same game, are they all cashing in on the tour or did they all coincidentally decide to publish their work at the same time? Plus, there's nothing new. Lol's book has far more appeal, he was in the band, not on the outside looking in - not being rude, but, anyone can take a photo. Who wants to buy mine?? £70 with a free box and the fingernails I broke opening the last one. Bargain. Satisfaction guaranteed. For me anyway.

Exactly, they have seen money is to be made from the first book and are cashing in on it. Who can blame them, would probably do the same in their position.
Made him lots money? Are you serious, wilgy? Do you know any photographer that had made a fortune with a 3,200 edition of a book, wich, by the way, cost a fortune to produce?
I don't know this man, maybe you do, but to say he is on this for the money, is quite an statement. If you say this, you should be so sure of what you are saying. Otherwise, I think is irrespectful. Is a lifetime work, almost surely, out of passion. Are you sure he is doing only for greed? It has nothing to do with his craft and art?

Well, mort, yes, I think this is rude. Photography is an art. Anyone can take a sh*itty photo. But not a proper photo.

Oh come on, are you that naive?
But obviously you are, enjoy your books.
Yes, I'm that naive.
You just tell me how much money do you think he is gonna earn with this book.

I'll leave that for you to work out, let's just say that I can imagine those pretty boxes that they came in didn't cost half as much as the ridiculous price folk paid!
Anyhow, that's your choice to buy and as I said enjoy them genuinely. I myself preferred to spend my money on actually seeing the band play rather than filling some guys pockets who happened to have the job of photographing them at some time or other. And it wasn't just "his passion",it was his job!
Well, with my Xperia Z5 Premium I can take a ****ty 4k photo with HDR, includes auto focus/multi shot/auto face tracking etc etc ..... I'm sure a proper camera is even easier to produce quality with.
I haven't bought a picture book yet. Andy Vella's, Sheehan Book, This one...nope. Now if Robert does an autobiography? I will scoop that up like I'm on my death bed!! THAT I will buy! I really really hope he does a book with his memoirs because I truly believe with all of my heart it will be one of the most profound, thoughtful books ever written. Because if Robert can write albums like Pornography and Seventeen Seconds at the age he did in the "alleged" state he was in, imagine what he could write now. Don't get me wrong, Robert's face is a work of art that I adore looking at but I have more than enough piccies to drool over

It's not about the gadgets, is about the eye.
I'd disagree with that, these days the photographer relies heavily on gadgets. A very good friend of mine is the official Arsenal photographer, plus the MCC official photographer. He sets his cameras up behind one goal at The Emirates and has other cameras down the other end. He takes random photos on a timer, if something is happening down the other end he'll be "remotely" clicking away whilst being the length of the pitch away.
Let me add the only photo book I would buy would be Mauro's! Not only because I like him greatly but because if you compare his photos with some in these books his are far superior. What he does with light play is unmatched. So for the sheer artistry of the work I would certainly buy it!
