Just bought a used Edirol R09,( I dont have any external mics (yet)) , and I´m interrested if someone has used this before? How should I set it up? I´m thinking 44,1 16 bit, I have a 2 gb SD card ( and i think that´s the biggest the machine can handle). I can set it at 48 24bit if i like but i don´t know how much time I get to record on my sd card, ( I dont even know how much time i get if i record at 44/16) My biggest concern is the recording levels...I used to record to tapes in the old days and had a pretty nice tape recorder that didn´t need any adjustments at all. Anyway i just thought i´d ask , any tips/tricks is helpful...
Ive moved this to the taper's tips board for you. There are some tapers here that should be able to help. In the meantime, are you sure you can't jab a 4Gb card in it? Worth checking the model to see whether it'll support a larger card. If it does, then capturing a 24/48 recording should be a doddle. The user manual I found suggests it'll take a 4Gb card (page 20). & on page 28 there's a table of recording times for different formats.
I´ll let you know, Was looking for a 4Gb card today but couldn´t find a small er than 8 gb, 32 gb is the most common one today...according to staff at shop...I´ll keep looking...

Just pulled all my cards to see if I had one to send you. 16 was the smallest I could find.
Getr the highest class of SD that you can - that's the number in the small circle, class 10 seems to be standard at mo. I get around 6 1/4 hours of 16 bit 44100 wav onto a 4gb card if that's any help.
