Amyl & the Sniffers were amazing last night! I went to the box office to get my tickets before the doors opened. My buddy backed out at the very last minute & I couldn't find anyone to go. The show was way sold out, so I told the girl at the box office to give the ticket away if someone came up looking for one. Good karma. The show was at the new version of a famous Seattle club, the Crocodile Cafe. They were forced out of the original space by greedy landlords. The group of owners are well financed & include at least one member of Alice in Chains. They offered to buy the original building but were rebuffed. So, they bought a building that originally was a real high end steak house. It's a big space. The main room has a capacity of 750 & they have another room that holds 300. Amyl were in the big room & it was jammed. The show had sold out instantly & the crowd was crazy. They did a fantastic job redoing the space for music. While I was getting my tickets, Amy Taylor came out to greet the fans that were there early. I got to talk to her for a bit about Aussie bands & got a picture with her. She was super sweet & very down to earth. The show exceeded expectations by far. They are like the Stooges with Amy playing the role of Iggy Pop. I got a video of my favorite song, "Knifey" & will try to post if I can figure it out. Also got some good pics with my low end phone. At the end of "Knifey" some drunk @$$hole decided to rush the stage in spite of a metal barrier in his way. I had been given a chair at the barrier due to disability. This motherfooker totally blind side tackled me & you can see when it happened on the video. I don't think I broke anything but I'm all bruised up today. steve , if I can't get the video on here maybe you can work some magic. Despite of that, the show was tied with Nick Cave for the best I've seen since concerts started again. It was worth the pain. Probably a good thing that I already had a doctor appointment today. It was totally worth the pain though! In a just world, Amy would be Mrs. Chuck haha.
I'm so glad to hear that you had such a great time. I hope the bruises will be gone very soon and only good memories stay from this one. And hey! The pain must have been really worth such a chick hitting on you!
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
Teenage Fanclub, brought back a lot of memories, god knows it's true, star sign, alcoholiday, i don't want control of you, etc, etc... found a full concert here
Also just went to see one of my fave band, -Basement Revolver was support band, quite good surprise, & i liked the voice,
The Lemonheads, (such a gifted good writer and composer and musician, slow melancholic folk songs or pop rock, if i could talk i'd tell you, my drug buddy, into your arms, the outdoor type, stove, half the time, it's a shame about ray, confetti, etc etc etc etc etc, the more i listen to them the more i love them, such great lyrics too, as usual Dando was really good on accoustic guitar on his own as full electric with his band (this time Mike Jones from Swervdriver was on drums, wow, it was good!).
I saw a good FREE show yesterday. As part of a county government festival to support sustainable farming Drive-by Truckers headlined. In a far too familiar show of government efficiency the event had next to zero publicity. The crowd was light with a lot of families. DBT went on about 4:00 & played a somewhat toned down short (for them) set of 1.5 hours. The payday must've been good (my tax dollars at work) as the band had been playing on the east coast & are heading back there now. Highlight of the show for me was a rousing cover of "People Who Died" that ended the set. Kind of nice to go to a rock show & not have my ears blown out. No ringing today, haha.

Oh, man. What can I say about Pet Shop Boys and New Order at Madison Square Garden? We’ve seen New Order a handful of times dating back to ‘89 when Public Image Ltd. and Sugarcubes opened for them. They are as boring as ever live, but the music still moves you. Pet Shop Boys, on the other hand, is why we bought these tickets two and a half years ago. And they did not disappoint. Where this was probably the least impressive New Order show we’ve seen, PSB’s set was easily one of the very best. Ever! Neil Tenant’s voice is fantastic, his charisma was palpable, and the crowd was insane!
New Order and PSB alternate headlining dates on this tour, and I’m so glad PSB was the closer because I have no idea how horrible it must be for nights where New Order has to follow them. I can only imagine the letdown.
We were surrounded by some of the very best fans ever at an arena show. We all made fast friends and danced till our feet hurt and sang until we were hoarse! The atmosphere, particularly during PSB was exactly what you’d hope for.
Talked with a guy from PSB’s crew. Unfortunately, they don’t print setlists for the band anymore… It’s all on iPads. Couldn’t get one of those 😉, but was able to snag New Order’s setlist before Paul Oakenfold’s second set. Here’s that, along with a handful of other random shots. A bunch more still photos from both bands posted on my @ambconcerts Instagram account. Hope you’ll check them out and like them!
I saw New Order once where they had early Throwing Muses open. TM were amazing & then NO came out & would literally punch a button on their synth & stand there with their arms crossed. Total snooze fest after the high energy of Kristen Hersh (Tanya Donnelly was still in the band, too). Ended up leaving early.

Ok. That’s funny. One of the worst shows I ever saw was Kristin Hersh opening for Bob Mould! She was horrible! 😂
I was just wondering when you were going to let us know how the show was!
The was you describe the fans in your section at MSG reminds me of my favorite of the 3 MSG The Cure shows I saw in 2016. It's the best when you're surrounded by a group of friendly, kindred spirits at a show.
Doors were at 7:00 and we got to the venue around 9:15 after dinner, thinking we'd be there before Melvins went on. Thought we'd still have some time to lallygag outside a bit down the block, but I noticed all the smokers quickly rush inside and realized Melvins set had just started. Since we were late we weren't able to easily get up front. But little by little we got about halfway up. I paid $17 for a plastic cup of Brooklyn Lager.
These guys never sound any older. Buzzo is still wearing his Masonic snuggie onstage. Steve M is such a ham I can't help but smile and laugh as he plays to the crowd. If I met him I would certainly ask him what shampoo he uses.
As always, these guys played solid. My only complaint, besides the $17 beer, is that the set was WAY TOO SHORT!!!!! They finished at 10:30. What?! I just realized last night these guys are the band I have seen the most times besides TC. I think I've seen them four times now. Best was when Napalm Death opened for them, maybe in 2018...
Long live Melvins.
To show how terrible my phone and my concert picture taking skills are, here are two terrible pictures.
