Not my clip but there's a lot of the classics from last night on YT already
mmmmmm... not exactly the real thing...
Well, he can't be 4 people at the same time and sound like 30 years ago
But no-one sounds like him on guitar, despite a whole succession of musicians being paid by Morrissey to do exactly that. Check out his take on Getting Away With It, no Smiths baggage and a gorgeous breakdown in the middle.

Of course I don't expect nothing from Morrissey. I don't know, maybe the best idea could be to leave the Smiths songs alone.

This. No more Smith songs, but I suspect he plays them to appease his fans! I do believe (could be wrong of course) that quite a number of them buy concert tickets because of their love of The Smith, and as such, they’d like to hear a Smith song or two.

I think he's done a lot to rescue those songs from the grim shadow of Morrissey, he did write them after all. I genuinely think he plays them cos he still loves them and they're massive crowd pleasers, which doesn't hurt. We did get more than usual last night, wish he'd play more Electronic stuff or some of his other co-writes - would love to hear something like Nothing But Flowers.
My Morning Jacket were an excellent way to end the concert quarantine Saturday. Great show. Durand Jones & the Indications were a pleasant surprise. Retro soul done well. The show started at 7:00 so MMJ wouldn't have curfew problems. They ended up playing over 2.5 hours. The have an arena level light show (designed by same guy who did the last few Pink Floyd tours) in a theater. It's sensory overload. The band are all excellent musicians especially guitar/sax player Carl Broemel. He's unreal good. They ended with "One Big Holiday" which blew the roof off the theater, as it do. They don't play it every show, so glad I picked the right show. At the end of the encore, the audience response was so mighty that they played 1 more unplanned song. The theater had a proof of vaccination/mask requirement to get in, so fairly low risk. Going to same theater in ten days for Wilco & Young Fresh Fellows. Should be another good one. It was so good to see great live music again!

Show last night @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC. I probably haven't been to that venue in 12 years and I hadn't remembered how small it actually is. It's also like a maze when you come in. For someone directionally challenged, very difficult to navigate downstairs to the bathrooms, to the smoking exit and back to the stage. Walking in circles.
Lineup was Preoccupations, supported by METZ and FACS. We didn't catch FACS, but saw METZ's full set. I really enjoyed them. Sound was good, but I'm surprised I still don't have my hearing back today. Didn't seem that loud at the time. I will definitely purchase at least one album to support them (they had their gear stolen on this tour) and check out more. Mr. K said he enjoyed them, but that he wasn't sure he'd remember them for more than 48 hours (that is to say, they weren't distinctive for him). METZ is from Toronto, have you heard of them Danielle?
Here's the kicker: we didn't get to see Preoccupations, which I have been wanting to see for years. Our babysitter had a hard stop time of midnight and we hadn't realized there were two opening bands. I could have stayed by myself while Mr. K went home, but with a bum knee, I didn't want to navigate home alone.
Our friend who toured with Preoccupations back when they were known as Viet Cong had been thinking of going to last night's show, but also had babysitter issues and couldn't. I'm fantasizing about asking him to drive to Philly tonight to catch the next show, but alas, that's probably just a pipe dream.
I always wanted to go to the Bowery, never had the opportunity. I like a good mazy venue though! My NYC exploits have been limited to CBGBs and MSG. And very briefly sneaking into Radio City for a snoop.
Just realised since I last posted a review I've seen Damon Albarn, Suede, Jim Bob, Paul Weller, Billy Bragg, James,Squeeze and Madness - the end of 2021 has been saturated with classic British songwriters

Yes, Radio City is gorgeous. I saw Dead Can Dance there once and, unfortunately, the Rockettes Christmas show.
I remember smoking a joint on the pool table at CBGB's back in about 1993 visiting from college for CMJ. It was a John Spencer Blues Explosion show. That place was the diviest of all dives that ever dove.
