Feeling a certain kinship with this song right now, like I'm channeling exactly what RS was feeling when he wrote this. I love that he can write unbearably pretty songs and "here, eat my steel toed boot" songs equally well.
Unfortunately in this life there are times you'll come across people who just refuse to listen when you repeatedly try to politely communicate, "No thanks, I'm not interested." Then your hand is forced by rage to resort to less subtle communications.
This song is for those folks, and should help get the message across quite clearly.

Oh hooooo do tell. If you can.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

Well, for a few years I attended a really progressive church in our neighborhood after being a really staunch atheist for decades. I eventually came to realize despite the fact there were progressive social ideals I felt good about there (strongly pro gay marriage and clergy, pro immigrant, etc., etc.) the community was largely made up of people who seemed really hypocritical to me. So, last year I parted ways and am again a staunch atheist.
There is a woman who attends who knows I really love The Cure because we had a conversation about it once around the time of their 2016 tour. Since I left the church she has contacted me *many* times via email, trying to connect via music ("Hey, this club is doing an 80's night with great music like New Order and Depeche Mode!") as well as sending me a connection request via LinkedIn (my response was to delete my entire LI account - it's not a business tool anymore, just the new Facebook, I guess). I haven't encouraged her by responding to any of her attempts to contact me.
She emailed me again today and I just couldn't take it anymore. She tried to make conversation about The Cure ("Will they ever tour again?!") and some craft show she is participating in. I felt I had to tell her in no uncertain terms she was making me uncomfortable and to please stop contacting me.
The funniest part? She is a Clinical Social Worker.
Oh wow. Yeah I guess some people just can’t take the hint. Sorry to hear this bother has been happening.
Yeah, in retrospect it seems pretty silly to get so worked up about it. It felt like by not responding I was clearly saying, "No thanks", but I really hadn't said anything. I just got really irritated.
