Whoops! I didn't even remember writing this Boy sometimes I get very drunk, hmmm...
Hey fiveswings, please excuse my interruption and sure it's fine by me at least to keep plugging live and well record stores - Great idea of a thread in my opinion...now let me sheepishly slink off here, oh dear....
edit...looks like I should have quoted fiveswings there , let me do it now:)
Hey I can't believe this...all this time I've been trying not to spam my business here and here we are in record shop advert land. Half Price Dogs everybody...that's @ .co.UK or at Facebook or discogs musicstack or eBay... Facebooks probably best its most chatty place and where I want visitors . and sure its not bricks and mortar shop no more...it used to be. For nine years I ran Faeries Wear Boots record shop in Lancaster but its online only now. Slowly listing all unsold stock. Dead cheap - man why did no one tell me that its OK to spam record shops here...get to the Facebook page and say hello
Elfink, The purpose of this thread is not to spam any business. The intent is and will always be to show everyone, who take the time to read the thread, that record shops are alive and still kicking.
I believe there is a section in here somewhere you can sell, trade your collection. If its not OK to list pictures of the stores I have been visiting then someone let me know.
Used to spend hours at record stores searching for rare cure stuff, back in the days before the Internet
those where the days... I been out and about getting ready for the tour here in America. I been a bit busy with school, work and of course always looking for Cure Memo to add to my collection.

I love to travel and whenever I have the chance to do so I make it a point to stop at the local record store and bask in that feeling of shopping around a multitude of records. Mobil Records in Mobile, Alabama offered such a wonderful experienced that I just had to share it with Y’all.
The first time I walked thought his store I got this surreal feeling that I had step through time. The stored had a smell and feel or preservation and damped old wood. A deep kind South, Jazzy and blues ambiance echoed throughout the store as I quietly made my way through the store. Two or three people were busy digging through the multitude of records that covered the middle of the floor. Wall to wall records, posters, toys, shirts, and music memorabilia as far as the eye could see filled the store. It wasn’t long until the record store helper, Nick, ask if I needed any help. Nick was very helpful and as another Head on the Door fan he walked me around the store to the section that I was mostly interested in. KKK club edition, A U/K Japanese Whispers elevated my heart as I welcomed them to my collection and silently whispered, “Hello there, nice to see you again.” Nick obviously saw how excited I was and left me to bask in my feelings and told me to see him if I had any questions. I was in no rush to leave and slowly made my way through every section of the store. Then I came upon the listening station of the store. I sat in a stool as I turned on the Vintage Pioneer receiver Model SX-3500 and placed KKK on the mat of a Yamaha CR-440 grab the Pioneer SEL40 headphones. I sat there drooling as The Kiss explored my eardrums. Catch, Torture, If only we could sleep raveled on as people came and went through the store. I didn’t realize that the store was closing as Nick came over and brought me back from my somber music ecstasy. I asked Nick to hold the records for me and that I would be back tomorrow to listen to more records. He totally understood and held the records for me.
The next time I got the chance to go to the store Nick introduced me to Keith Glass, the store owner. Nick had previously told me a little about Keith and his story. Well, it turns out that Keith was excited to tell me about his hay days. How he founded Missing link Records and Managed Nick Cave and produced The Birthday Party LP. He told me stories about the making of the record, Nick Cave memorabilia and even showed me a signed tie that Nick Cave used to wear when he toured. The next couple of days I came and went as Keith continued to show me old records, game me a tour of the back of the store that none was allowed in, and played the records of my choosing on the main store record player and continued to tell me stories. Two big highlights: First, Lament was playing as I entered the store on one occasion and I noticed people wanting to buy the record (too bad for them). The second, when a guy brought in 4 boxes of records that included The Sisters of Mercy, complete collection of Bauhaus, Joy Division, The smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Death Can Dance, and Filed of Nephilim and much more. Overall this was a great experience .

So heaps of vinyl and memorabilia...hey real funny thing last week at the Liverpool fair, some guy was setting up stall opposite me and comes to have a look...he sees my Danse Society records and says 'I'm in this band!' he was great bloke,Eliot I think he said his name is
Easy Street Records in Seattle is pretty good. + they have a nice little cafe for breakfast & lunch that has good food at reasonable prices. Nice waitresses too. Personal favorite: the James Browns with bacon. Hashbrowns & veggies & really good bacon. No eggs! I don't eat eggs. Throw some hot sauce on there & is brekkie fit for a king. + is only a few miles from my house. Always a plus in the morning.

Apa Kabar(Hello) Its been a minute or two since I posted something on this thread. I have been traveling the world and wanted to share a picture of my latest discovery. I am always amaze at what I find and the people who still carry the passion and the love for records. This little shop in the heart of Singapore has so many great gems which made it difficult to pick just a few. As soon as I saw this Japanese KMKMKM needing a new home I placed it on the counter for purchase. So many more places to see.. For now I leave you all but promise to post more.
