The last 2 albums were crap! I'd still go see them live if I was sure, most of the material played was going to be off "Origin..." and "Absolution". The new song isn't that bad, though... I had totally given up on them already but I might give their new album a chance now.
I was into them for a while. Kinda fell off the wagon after a while. I still like Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry and Absolution though.
Only time I saw them was...
Curiosa 2004. A buddy of mine was raving about them there, so I watched them there and enjoyed the set. Got REALLY into them and then just lost interest.
They fell into the "U2 Trap", decided visual effects were more important than music. Muse's "Seaside Rendezvous" is one of the greatest gigs I've ever been to, it was all about the music, nothing else.
That's one of their problems indeed. I saw them live at Wembley Arena in 2010, I think? Not really sure about the year, I'm afraid. But anyway, I went there with a friend (and combined it with a short holiday in London) and I was just extremely underwhelmed. Acrobats and a spaceship, yeah, alright. At one point we both weren't really sure if we were attending an Aliens convention, a circus performance or a gig. I still remember seeing them live in 2000 or 2001 when it was a gig, just that, a gig - but a good one. I guess, fame has gotten to them. And Matt Bellamy has to get it into his head that he isn't Freddie Mercury.
They could have fitted last nights gig in the gap between the Wembley stage and the crowd. It was all monstrous riffs (and the slightly iffy new single).
Saw them three times. One in Lyon in 2009, in Paris Stade de France 2010 and in Montpellier in 2012. Really love this band but the tickets are really a pain to have. I was a bit disappointed by the last album although there are some great songs in it (Supremacy, Panic Station, Animals...). Will try to get some tickets but I will surely have to pay it on the black market so I'm not that sure I still want to put a lot of money in tickets.
