Shaken. Last night during our final walk, my dog was attacked by a huge dog. It was off leash and bingo was not. That dog gripped Bingo with so much force, that he cried. There’s still slobber marks on bingo from where the dog bit him. I checked him over multiple times, and he looks okay. I’m thinking of booking an appointment with the vet though to check things over.
I got nipped too, but it’s nothing serious. The owner, who was I guess in shock during the initial attack, stood there for a few moments before he came to help me. He told me he couldn’t believe his dog did that and that it was the first time something like this ever happened. I swore at him, and told him to put his dog on a leash. FfS. I still feel shaky from this incident. I don’t know what I’d do if something horrible happened to my pup.
That's why I always have a small ultrasound (or how is it called) with me when I go hiking in nature. The sound brings the attacking dog out of balance and left stupified for some seconds and at least interrupt the attack.

Holy carp! That's freak me out too. Hope Bingo & you are both alright.

Thank you. TBH, I’m still in shock I think. Pretty sure the BIng has moved on.

I’ll have to look into that! Pepper spray is illegal here, but Id definitely feel better if I had something extra (apart from my fists) should this happens again.

What a terrible experience. I’m very sorry for you both. Wishing you and Bingo the best, hope you are ok.
I really appreciate your support chuckrh, the18th, Pipps, steve, gongoro73, and @notkristie. Bingo is awesome, and I just want for him to have the best possible life. We jumped back into the horse this morning, and went to the fancy park. Dunno if it was just in my head, but I think he (and I know I was) was a teensy bit apprehensive. But he did a great job, and loved his walk.
But I’m going to have another drink to calm my nerves.

Get Bingo checked over - if his skin was broken anywhere then that can lead to a v nasty abcess - dogs mouths are 🤮 (Bingo excepted, of course!)
Ugh i hate that. When we walk the dog we bring pepper spray with us for just that reason. Our neighbors little poodle dog was killed Because another neighbors lab was loose and went into THEIR yard and killed her. Its still going on a year later. Glad you two are OK. Bring pepper spray with you.
Oh my goodness that’s so horrible! Was the lab put down???
pepper spray, tasers and all that jazz are illegal in Canada. I wish I could have some though, I’d feel much better about going out, especially at night. There’s coyotes around here too, and I don’t know what I’d do if we were attacked by one…
I got it off Amazon. You might be able to get it there. POM Pepper Spray Flip Top Pocket Clip - Maximum Strength OC Spray for Self Defense - Tactical Compact & Safe Design - 25 Bursts & 10 ft Range - Powerful & Accurate Stream Pattern a.co/d/forJ0W3
No the lab was not put down and that is why my neighbors are still having a beef with each other. It's not the labs fault but i might feel the same if it killed my dog. I don't know.
I feel happy to be home but upset my husband has just tested COVID positive. I am testing negative but about 4 days ago I did feel as though I was coming down with a mild cold. Crapola.

I had it back in May when our spawn brought it home. Mr. K was lucky enough to be on a work trip on the other coast. I don’t want it again so soon!
Update: I was washing Bingo and noticed that he had a bloody wound on his back. Brought him to the vet, and there was indeed a puncture wound from when he was attacked. The vet shaved down the infected area and cleaned up his wound. He’ll be on anti inflammatory drugs for the next four days and on antibiotics for the next 14. I feel horrible that I missed the wound, poor guy must have been suffering. So glad that I went to the vet.
