2008 is one of the best represented tours in audience recordings. Everyone was ready to receive The Cure as a greatest hits band, and that's what these shows were, for the most part.
I finished the Los Angeles MATRIX, but have found myself distracted in a good way by other music. I've been reviewing Sandanista by The Clash (a godawful experimental record for them that sounds like an ad against drug abuse). And my daughter dragged out on the floor Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles:
This is the CD version that I bought about 15 or so years ago. I wanted to hear what all the fuss was about.
The pamphlet was very detailed. The Beatles recorded three songs during this time that were not included on this album: Strawberry Fields Forever (recorded after Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). Penny Lane (recorded very early around When I'm 64). And Only a Northern Song (recorded after Good Morning Good Morning).
This reminds me of The Cure's 2004 album, where the track listings varied depending on what continent you were on.
So I tracked down these three Beatles songs from others collections and assembled them into a newly-ripped MP3 of Sgt Pepper for a "total" Sgt Pepper album mix.
Maybe I'll listen to more 2008 Cure this weekend...
I'm going to delay listening to more Cure, as I am reverting Windows 10 to Windows 7.
Windows 10 has incredible lag for anyone using Windows Explorer to copy and paste files, especially music files. Intolerable delay as it slowly examines every subfolder when I'm just trying to copy one or two files.
The violent visions that wash through my head while dealing with Windows 10 would rival any imagery Robert Smith had in mind while recording Pornography:
I did a full erasure of Windows 10 off my 8-year old laptop. It is now running a DVD version of Windows 7 Home Premium, with none of the stupid "compatibility settings" of Windows 10 that ran like a one-cylinder lawn mower. Why is Windows 10 so slow? They expect you to put it in on a new PC, not a 2012 computer.
Anyway, went back to 13.02.2008 Kobenhavn - Forum København Copenhagen (Denmark), which I started listening to in November. Nice to hear again, beautiful songs to hear in an otherwise gray and dreary 2021.
Listened to the wonderful FM recording of 13.12.2008 2008_4Tour_-_Hollywood_Bowl_-_Los_Angeles__CA Sirus Satellite Radio broadcast higher. Whoops, can I say that? Oh well...
Listening to 20.06.2008 New York - Madison Square Garden (USANY) (Je.D. version).
In 2008, we didn't hold out much hope for the 2008 4Tour. Now it's 13 years later and while not every performance is spot-on, it's a helluva setlist and some amazing long shows...
Having A Night Like This, Charlotte Sometimes, The Kiss, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep and To Wish Impossible Things in a single show ain't bad!

4Tour Stats: -------------------------- Setlists: 10/10 Global Reach: 9/10 Execution: 5/10
I do love your reviews, cheers!
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
I thought this was the best tour for this lineup, pretty tight and decent arrangements to fill around the absence of keys. Shame we only got one UK date though..

I disagree.

I've been attending live shows of other bands since 1990. But for some reason, The Cure was a private audio experience me on my headphones in my room for two decades. It wasn't until the 4Tour that I actually thought about attending them in person, strange.
The instrumentals on the 4Tour for the two shows I attended were terrible, thanks to Porl Thompson (guitar). Robert and the rest still did amazing work on tracks like If Only Tonight We Could Sleep and A Forest. Since this was what I thought the only time I would hear them live, I could overlook the distinctly amateur effort of Porl.
Reeves, is that you? No but Porl's first stint (or second depending on how you count) was better for obvious reasons. He wasn't asked to play Plainsong on guitar then etc.
I enjoyed their approximation of keyboard lines, which I thought represented the name "4Tour". It was better than I expected, but also disappointing.
The Sunrise show had A Letter to Elise, a song I longed to hear live. Only to hear Porl completely mangle the solo, it's like he forgot where he was, what band he was in, or what the song was.
This week I completed the Wien show, but it had so many guitar errors that I can't review it out of kindness. Yuck.
Now listening to 2008.02.29 Roma - Palalottomatica (Italy) RS which has a setlist like the Florida shows.
2008.06.08 Austin Music Hall, Austin, TX (AU - atxwolfattack) FLAC. I don't what it was about this Austin Texas show. Others have called it the "Wonder Show" for 2008. Maybe their host there had an eclectic playlist request. Whatever, this is the 2008 4Tour show the rest of us would have been happy to hear: They had Alt.End, Torture, The Figurehead, The Big Hand, Catch, Signal to Noise, the Hanging Garden, and Fire in Cairo.
