Hi I thing is true, that we are here fans of The Cure. The Cure are best band in the world for most of us. In this part we talking abou other famous bands what we like. But.......! Everybody like one or two bands, which are great in his opinion, but they not so famous.
So, try to imagine. You have your own festival and you can také any band you want (from today and from past too). Headlines will be probably The Cure and bands for evening you choose too. (Mission, Joy Division, Sister of Mercy, Interpol, Editors, Echo and The Bunnymen.....) And now you must give some bands to lineup for afternoon. Bands what you like, bands what you want to introduce to visitors. What bands you want to introduce? This is the question?
And because I invented this game, I have first move.
This band formed in 2004. They play music what stay on the postpunk base. But they combined many styles and finaly we can say – it is only R´n ´R. When they start, many people said – they sounds like Joy Division. And somethig from Joy Division sound is in their music. The name of this band recalls Joy Division too. And this is my first choice.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce „The Prostitutes“
I think I would have The Godfathers, but given they split up a few weeks ago, The Subways would be a nice act. *still peeved that they played the same time as The Cure at Reading in 2012*
Northern Lite - very impressive sound - i will listen more....maybe i find some album from DL. Subways - I look forward them in Glasto - as it looks - most time in Sunday i will be at the other stage...... The Godfathers - so this is discovery for me - i´s a shame that I didn´t know them until today. I look something in youtube - this is the new mods - the parents must be the who and the jam.......very nice and pure. Thanx

Try to get a copy of Hit by Hit.
Also try The Sid Presley Experience. They were the fore runners to The Godfathers.

I youtubed that band and have to ´admit´ it IS pretty good.. I didn´t watch the video you posted yet, but I will right now :-)
I remember seeing Blues Caravan at this small festival close to where I live... and though I did really like their performance, I was picturing the front singer to be Robert Smith or Dan Reynolds all the time... I was only thinking, ´if only she was Robert!´, which is of course a great way of enjoying a gig, huh?
For fans of minimalist electronica, check out Dan Friel. It's not my cup of tea, but Dan is really talented and a super nice guy. He is the father of our son's best friend. He tours a fair amount in Europe lately and is on Thrill Jockey Records.
Here is a video of his for Rattler, full of kids in slo mo. Our son stood on the side and refused to be in it.
Our friend Dan and his family came over for pizza tonight and we found out he has a new project, Upper Wilds (new to us, but not truly that new).
It's a bit more accessible than some of his other stuff, which is pretty much completely synth driven (not so much my cup of tea). Guitars and vocals here, which there haven't been on his other material I've hears. We're going to try to make it to their show next Friday night, as we've never seen him live before.
Here is a sampling of the project: Upper Wilds. The more I hear, the more I like it.
Just went to the playground with my friend Dan from Upper Wilds. I learned their new album on Thrill Jockey dropped today, including colored vinyl (see below). I like what I've heard so far.
If you're in the US they are embarking on a small tour (Chicago, Chapel Hill, not sure where else) and you should check them out!
Oh, I just read that the bassist from Guided by Voices plays on the title track and the album was recorded by Martin Bisi, who worked with Sonic Youth, Swans, and Boredoms. Nice.
