Game of Thrones/ House of the Dragon !!Beware. Spoilers!!

I did like the Lord of the Rings on screen, just because of its epicness, but I have to admit that I couldn't bring myself to read it. Might be a girls-thing (just to throw in some more stereotypes), but what I enjoy about GoT is the fact, 1. that there are real women in the show who actually do things and say intelligent sentences and 2. how the characters interact with each other, the interpersonal drama if you will.

I don't think the two can really be compared though, they're about very different things and told from very different angles.

I like the LOTR books. The films could have been alright but boy did I HATE those hobbits!!!!! Frodo and Sam

just finished the trilogy plus the hobbit earlier in the week still the best fantasy saga by far

Well, I managed 4 episodes today & quite enjoying it.
After the first 2 I didn't have a scooby what was going on & thought about jacking it in.
But I stuck with it & now I think I know what's happening.
& Daenerys is a bit of a honey.......

Well, if you want to watch The Desolation Of Smaug I know a man who could help ......

I haven't seen The Hobbit films yet either.
Most people I know slagged off the first one & it sort of put me off.
They are on my list of Blu Rays to cast an eye over though

I think one of the things I am liking with Game of Thrones (as with the LOTR films) is the abundance of regional accents.
Usually these things are all "hollywoody" & we've become conditioned to largely accentless faces.
Nice to have them there. It really adds some sort of real-ness to it all.

NB.
That's not to say I would have preferred Dave Prowse's real voice for Darth Vader.
