The Horrors have been announced as support for the UK date. This will be the 4th time this tuneless bunch of chancers have been given an hour to spoil my day!
Depeche Mode play for an hour? Can you tell when one "noise" stops and the next starts? Do you get a hint from the bloke who stands where a lead singer should stand? Like "this is our next song, bit different from the last - every third word rhymes not every fifth, it's still about absolutely nothing though"
Oh hang on, The Horrors play for an hour? Then you get The Horrific?

Ha, you may not like DM but there are times when we should all unite against the common enemy!

Don't worry, the Horrors will be treated badly & have their career ruined.
I went to the show at Friends Arena in Stockholm on friday the 5th of May. I brought my to sons with me this time,it was kind a special, i was gonna bring them to the Cure show last year but I couldn´t fix that then (had to bring the wife instead ) I thought the show was great and the new songs was really good live, they had some animations a "movies" going on in the backdrop from time to time a nice addition to the visuals of the show. The best songs for me this evening was "Everything Counts" with a new intro to the song that was just great. And the cover of Bowies "Heroes" was something of surprise ( at least to me), Dave sang really well, his voice is really good.
Setlist:
01 Intro 02 Going Backwards 03 So Much Love 04 Barrel Of A Gun 05 A Pain That I´m Used To 06 Corrupt 07 In Your Room 08 World In My Eyes 09 Cover Me 10 Home 11 A Question of Lust 12 Poison Heart 13 Where´s The Revolution 14 Wrong 15 Everything Counts 16 Stripped 17 Enjoy The Silence 18 Never Let Me Down Again 19 Encore Break 20 Somebody 21 Walking In My Shoes 22 Heroes (Bowie-cover) 23 I Feel You 24 Personal Jesus 25 Outro
I recorded the show on my Edirol R-09, it came out pretty well as i didn´t have the best location to tape. (About 35 meters from the stage in front of the left speakerstacks).
There is a somewhat better recording made by our friend Trekrytt/Metalurg already on Dime, if your interested.
The only thing that was a hickup was the volume of the sound, it could have been a little bit higher, i saw somebody in front of me and her phone said 95dbs.. and i think a bit louder would have been better...
I'd be happy with that setlist in a few weeks - I'd love to hear Blasphemous Rumours or Waiting For The Night but know it's never going to happen..
Weirdly, I remember getting to the Crystal Palace show, I obviously remember the support band but can't remember a thing about the actual show or getting home.
I do still remember the apocalyptic rain at the Zeebrugge show the week before and a bus load of hilariously waterlogged leather-clad goths heading home on the ferry.

I too still have a blank as regards getting home after that one

Last thing I definitely remember is Pete French leading a crocodile of goths down to the front, pushing the DM fans gently aside and claiming to be from the Red Cross.
Setlist has remained unchanged so far... as I'm going to Copenhagen next week I'm still hoping for some twists early on this leg! So much to wish for...not unlike with certain other bands!
The new stuff was a bit flat but the classics were great. Gig was a slow starter but Dave fell flat on his face and broke a mic early on, Marty took over for the rest of the song and it just took off from that point forward. Rained a bit which just added to lights and atmosphere
