I´m a Science Geek and I´m proud of it.

My short answer would be: no, it will help automate many of their tasks. But as of now there's no AI which can do actual thinking. So if thinking is part of the mathematician's job, and it is, humans will be needed.

But as for other jobs where it becomes relevant, having an understanding of AI and knowing how to use it will likely become important for mathematicians too, so those who remain behind in that regard may struggle.
