Rhino US is making a ridiculous amount on postage - $8 on a $15 purchase. Not doing it.
I have a hard time justifying the various costs associated with physical music media. The price for the creative material is more than fair, but having the physical media isn't important to me.
not having the plastic disk in my hand is incomprehensible to me.

If I can't hold it I can't own it.
I've only just got used to using a debit card....crypto currency is witchcraft
What could ever possibly go wrong with billions of people thinking that???? Crypto isn’t really the same thing at all as a debit card. You can use a virtual account # that eliminates the need for a card. I agree crypto is witchcraft, but that’s probably because I don’t understand it.

When you live in a relatively small space, every cm counts. For every 5 discs we eliminate we can have one more book.
My CD arrived in the mail yesterday and yeah agree with paleiko and bloodflowers78, rubbish cardboard sleeves are annoying. Just give me my usual CD case (yes, I know it can and will live in a CD case, but that's not the point. I'm paying the same price for a CD that I used to (more or less) but I don't get the same packaging. LAME).
In part, I think it’s a matter of slowly weaning people off more wasteful forms of packaging (heavier packaging also costs more to transport and requires more fuel use for transport). I guess if physical media is important to you, it probably seems like a big leap.
I feel happy to pay slightly more for something to have less trash, I mean packaging, to dispose of.
Lol, this thread is an example of how the music business exploits good will. Instead of new music they repackage the same old and make it louder.
That there is no new album tells me that this thing is projected to shift more units for a smaller investment.
I think I ran out of goodwill a few years ago when the relentless & predictable rip off store day re-issues came round like clockwork. While it's nice to get maybe some additional tracks, I'm not sure it justifies the cost.

I think this release and the new album are mutually exclusive. The reissues would (and will continue to) happen until they’re wrung dry. Getting more for less is always the primary factor. It reminds me of the cartoon backgrounds that repeat or Friday the 13th Part 29R. Creative content is constantly mined for ways to continue the revenue stream. Nobody in the recording industry is in it for goodwill’s sake.
It would make sense to announce the new album with the reissue campaign not after it. Especially as Wish, apparently, is such a high water mark. Or even previously with that sideshow in Cleveland.
What does make sense though is that the asking price RS has set for a new album is too high based on projected sales. There's no 'radio friendly unit shifter' on it.
I continue to be interested in The Cure, but more from nostalgia than any hope of current relevance. I thrill more to an old soundboard recording than new music, but that's probably unique to me.

back on topic (Stay on target!! Staay on target!!!) ....
So I put the new release on my phone (yeah... I'm old), in the original release order and bunged Shake Dog Shake, Hot Hot Hot!!! and End from the Wish reissue on the end, cos I am not willing to accept a different running order for that (let's face it) Weirdest/Non-Commercial/Non-Show Cuts (as opposed to Greatest Hits) release, and while my brain is OK with the track running order, it sounded weird hearing those versions of those songs in the new (incorrect) order with the crowd sound from the end of one track not running smoothly into the beginning of the next track...
Makes you think...
