Having Roger O'Donnell and Reeves Gabrels on a tour is a new era for the band.
Yes, since 2012 they're back at being great live.
c'mon Bestival was the only negative-ish (based on the live release, need to listen to that AUD show I think I have) show in 2011. Those Reflections shows were outstanding, from the tapes and vids I have seen. YMMV though.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

Yes, Reflections were great. I was thinking more about the 4tour and about the tour promoting the eponymous album (at least the concerts I attended in that period were not to their usual standards).

was there ever a live stream of Bestival 2011? I see there are a few partial PROSHOTs out there, but whenever I search on the toobs, the few full videos were "unavailable" and now gone!

4Tour 2008 has its moments but some songs are like a bad cover band.
Imagine my horror at hearing this amazing song live in Sunrise Florida 2008. Then we get to the solo:
Good grief.
WHAT!!!?? are you saying that a 12string electric laden with many many many modulation pedals on and a bit of dirt on top of that, doesn't make for a nice lead sound??? DEATH TO THE WITCH-HEATHENS.. lol
that was rough as...
To be fair, the guitar-driven songs, like all the Three Imaginary BoysDon't Cry albums' songs such as Killing an Arab sounded rad.. it's just when you try to replace a keyboard line or two with an effects-laden guitar and then don't have the normal extra guitar, that it sounds a bit... not to my liking.....

At the one concert I attended of the 4tour, the part I enjoyed the most was the "old school" encores (3 imaginary boys / boys don't cry material).

I went thru listened again and made a note or comment after each track. Here you go.
Plainsong: sounded normal. Open. Missing the other guitars which the keyboard doesn’t NOT make up for. Fascination Street. Almost there. Very few guitar lines missing. A Night Like This. Missing something, like the second guitar… Too much flanger, Bob. The End Of The World. Average song sounding average. Keys playing guitar almost cut it. Lovesong. Missing a bit. Just Like Heaven. Electric sounds cool but missing the acoustic, and the lead played up and down the neck was a bit of a miss at the end when switching to rhythm ( on the video) The Only One. Meh. Sounds fine I guess. The Walk. Normal Push. Where’s that Bass VI!? Friday I'm In Love. Missing guitar is almost covered by keyboard. Almost. In Between Days. Nope. Missing guitars Play For Today. Yup. Just like the old days. A Forest. Great but what’s with that intro keyboard ? Primary. Rocking. But where’s the VI? Too much flanger, Bob.. Shake Dog Shake. Too. Much. Flanger. Robert. Severely lacking the other guitar. The Hungry Ghost. Fine. One Hundred Years. Yeah boi!! End. Missing the other guitars. A lot. Disintegration. Missing the second guitar.
Lullaby. C'mon, one guitar? No. The Lovecats. Terrible song. Not a well played rendition The Caterpillar. Yup. Lovely Close To Me. Keys on a gtr? Nope Hot Hot Hot!!! Sounds fine but is missing parts guitar Let's Go To Bed. Fine but a bit loose Why Can't I Be You? As above
Boys Don't Cry. Lead fuitar part on keyboard = no Jumping Someone Else's Train. Just need that second gutar Grinding Halt. Fine. 10.15 Saturday Night. Sounding great Killing An Arab. Sounding great. But “Another”? Yuck
So, all in all, Bestival is not for me.

So, all in all, Bestival is not for me.
The Lovecats is a masterpiece of a song. But yeah, not a good rendition on Bestival.
