I can absolutely believe this. So stupid. So, so stupid.
My former employer got rid of all the older workers who knew what was going in favor of young idiots with a lot of theories. They are paying the price now as shown every day on the national news.
John Oliver did a great piece on your former employer a few weeks back. So eye-opening!

Kind of makes you think twice about flying. For once in my life I had perfect timing when I got out of there. I could see a lot of this stuff coming. I did work 5 years longer than my doctors wanted me to. It was time for me to leave because of my heath. Will be 5 years in August. I haven't missed it at all.
I actually like the word and the meaning. The funny sound of it is so incongruent with the definition. Hearing someone say it always makes me chuckle and think of fuzzy cats. "Aloof Floof"
According to Wacki " In 2017, 40% of Americans named ranch as their favorite dressing, according to a study by the Association for Dressings and Sauces"
There's an Association for Dressings & Sauces!!!!??
Have you tried it? If not, just do it once for research purposes of course. Full disclaimer: should you sample some, it’ll take a good two days to get rid of that awful awful taste in your mouth!
I read an article which stated that ageism in the workplace begins at 40! Not so long ago I was considered a ‘young adult’ and now I’m considered to be a crumbling ruin? Wtf!
I just wanted to say I have not been able to find a job since beginning my search in February. I can only think that it's got to do w/ age (even without graduation dates on my resume it doesn't take a genius to figure out how old I am). It makes me feel pretty angry that I'm viewed as obsolete and of no use at age 50. FTS. Might as well start playing bridge.

I’m sure you will find a good one, Kirstie. Hope it will be as soon as possible.

I’m certain that with all your qualifications and experience you’ll find something soon! As my mom always says, “it’s not just any job, it’s the right one that you want”.

I’ve actually decided (w/ Mr) that I’ll put off my search for now and focus on holding down the home front. I’m also going to pick up a volunteer application for the local no-kill shelter. There’s always the possibility of leveraging some administrative volunteer work into a paid position somewhere, should I want to.
The past few years (since the start of the pandemic) have been ultra stressful and I am finally feeling physically better than I have in years since I stopped manual labor. Going to continue to recover, for which I’m grateful. I just have to feel a purpose…
This is NOT intended as a political post at all. Please don’t muck up this post with projection. I’m not interested in arguing for one “side” or the other. But the free speech implications and lack of confidence in the ability of groups and individuals to peacefully protest and have difficult interactions by moving institutions of higher education to remote instruction, etc. is extremely troubling to me.
We cannot surrender our right to peaceful protest and speech.

Holding down the home front is a BIG job in itself!

That's very true, but unfortunately that's not the message we get much, in this country at least. Thanks for the supportive comment!

Sounds like you’re taking a well-deserved break! Btw - my massage therapist retired during the pandemic. After 20 years of massages, her body needed to recover. Good news too, , she’s found a new career and is thriving in her new role. I wish the same for you!
Volunteering is such a wonderful way to spend your time! I am partial to animal charities too! I truly feel that you’re one of those special people who thrives in whatever they do, and I have no doubt that you will find something that you love to do once again.

Thank you, Danielle. Your incredibly kind words made my day. 😻🙏
