yeah that is strange, the swing tour was blast never the less, i never got to attend that tour, norway was that hot at the time, and i didnt travel that much back then
It was a good tour with a big song repertoire but I think the band's confidence got knocked by the poor WMS response. The way they went from starting every show at start of the tour with Want as it should be. At some point they started opening with Plainsong before Want which was bizarre but I put it down to the WMS reaction.
The reason for the WMS backlash I think is because they changed from being a vinyl band to a CD band.
CDs came out in about 1985, up to the Head on the door the cure had been putting out concise albums 43 minutes or less. After 1985 every single cure album is 50-80 minutes long filling up a CD. Of course it worked for kiss me/disintegration/wish when every song they wrote was a winner.
But by WMS, not every song they recorded was great although they still felt they had to put out a long album to fill CD.
They got back on track with Bloodflowers though where every song is great.
they maybe put too much stuff on wms, but somehow they to put better songs out on the singles from the album, and that is also quite strange, is quite clear its better songs on the singles b-sides than for eks. round and round and round
I don't want to come over as a WMS basher. I still think it's a good 7/10 album but by the cure's standards it's a drop in songwriting prowess. Every cure album before WMS is a 9 or 10, out of 10. 3ib to Wish is one of the greatest album runs in music.

the rumor part I don't care about. the Pornography part is true, though! Pornography (which quietly turned 40 this year) has had 5/8 tracks performed from it this tour. Wish has had...3/12. this reminds me of the Vivid Disintegration shows in 2019 where Robert played Three Imaginary Boys since that record turned 40, I found that banter hilarious and think their sense of humor is pretty great
as for the rumor, who puts any stock in that sort of thing? I wonder what's more likely, getting a new song or hearing Apart or To Wish Impossible Things live in one of the upcoming shows?

The cure are a CD band by WMS, every album is long. The only problem with coming up with a definite WMS is that fans have different opinions on which songs should have been left off.
Personally I like round and round and round/13th/club America/strange attraction/gone, songs which divide fans.
For me, the weakest are Numb and Trap, which other fans like
TC and pizza make a pretty perfect pairing. Just missing a beer.
I also have pizza - AAAND on my way home with the pizza I all of the sudden got stomach cramps - probably because I have been freezing today… So I have pizza…
Oh no! Are you expecting to witness an explosion later ?
