Out of curiosity, are you aware of any demo or maybe just even a song name left over from the JW era?
To my knowledge there (unfortunately) are no real demos of the JW era leaked aside from the Flexipop version of La Ment. Robert was very productive at the time and I guess most of his ideas actually did end up on albums he worked with at the time: JW singles, The Glove album, SATB’s Hyaena and later The Top (and even THOTD). I guess Ariel is the only actual song that could be linked to JW era which didn’t get a proper studio version release.
Other songs I remember being originally from the JW era are Dressing Up and New Day. Edit: and at least the lyrics of the Bloodflowers song There Is No If are from the same era.
With fans buying this picture disc and others, it doesn't give the cure any incentive to ever release new songs when they can endlessly flog poor quality picture discs, calendars and dodgy clothing for the next 20 years.
Every year is the special anniversary of some albums. 2021...40th anniversary of Faith, 25th anniversary of WMS 2022...30th anniversary of Wish, 40th anniversary of Porn, 35th anniversary of KMKMKM

I don't believe it's the band per se. It seems to be UMG but the band (or Robert) are maybe under contract to plug the releases & merch. & you're not the only person getting a bit fed up with this stuff. You can count me in that number too. I sort of understand collector's items if they eventually become an investment & become valuable, but these re-issues are neither. Their only claim to fame is that they haven't been officially released on picture disc before. It would be of much more value to, if they have to, release live albums from the recent tours. Regardless of various people's incessant moaning about setlists, I believe that direction would be far more appreciated than wall clocks in sleeves with a massive hole in the middle. Every serious The Cure fan will more than likely have JW. None will have a double disc set of the best of 2016's world tour with a 16 page booklet, etc. blah, blah... I would certainly buy that & not feel I wasted money doing so.
edit: Or even at least "deluxe" the re-issues. Lost Flowers, JW demos etc.
