I don't think I have listened to Bloodflowers in it's entirety more than 5/6 times. It bores me. How many classic (I mean really classic tracks) has in it?
10:15/TIB alone are better than the whole Bloodflowers album, IMHO. Not to mention Shake Dog Shake/Give Me It, to name just a couple of each record.

Anyway, is just matter of taste.
There's at least three undeniable classic Cure songs on it...
Out of this World Last Day of Summer Bloodflowers
And other excellent songs...
There is no if Maybe Someday Loudest Sound 39 Watching Me Fall Where the birds always sing
Bloodflowers is the ultimate slow burner album and takes some good listens to grow. One of their best albums both lyrically and musically. Definitely one for the hardcore Cure fan rather than casual curepop listener.
My only criticism is that at 11 minutes, Watching Me Fall, is overlong and could have been edited down to about 8 minutes. But I can forgive that as it's such a good track.

Who dared voting Pornography? Oh, it's me... It's a cult album, a milestone, the end of the trilogy, the darkest album, great guitars, great songs, strong drums, terrific lyrics... but it's so so hard to listen for me... Personnal taste, as always...
I'm a late adopter for Bloodflowers and it didn't click for me at first - love it now and it has the advantage of not being overplayed so I still hear new details every time I listen

I deny it . Good tracks, not classics for me.
I see Bloodflowers as the repetition of a formula wich was finished long time ago. There is nothing new on that album but the rerun of their own music, but lot less inspired, IMO. Nothing new, nothing exciting. A good record, that's all. I strongly think their last proper album (although not perfect, but still with very good ideas) was Wish. Everything that came after is second rate, compared to their previous albums. Good bits of music in each one (sometimes very good ones), but much less interesting.
As always, just my opinion, nothing that really matters. I write this down just for the sake of having some discussion, some disagreement, wich I think is always healthy and fun.

I recall Roger once describing it as "The Cure by numbers". Which almost as you've described. It seemed to be an attempt at making an "old school" sounding The Cure album (an apology for WMS maybe? ). I personally do like it. But as a studio piece it can feel a little bit too reserved. Like a car ticking over & not quite accelerating I suppose. Live, it is a different beast altogether. Much more visceral & ...well....alive. But it has some absolutely beautiful musicianship in there. Last Day Of Summer is melt worthy. Watching Me Fall is mind blowing. Bloodflowers is heart wrenching. I think the only weak link is Maybe Someday & even that's a good song. & leaving Coming Up off many of the regional CD variants was criminal. I think it has some of Roger's best keyboard work on it.
I've always felt that Watching Me Fall was something like an attempt of redoing Prayers For Rain. I like WMF, but I feel it misses something, don't know exactly what, and also feel it is, as I said, something they did before, and they did it way better. A good song, but I don't find it impressive.
I think my favourite is track is Bloodflowers, but still... something we have heard before.
Regarding Coming Up. Can't find anything on Bob's vocals interesting to me. An average song to my ears.
I don't know if it holds up to any scrutiny but the thing that makes Bloodflowers stand out for me is that it's first album that feels like a traditonal songwriters album built around the acoustic guitar. The melodies are stronger than anything from the albums on either side and it hasn't dated like WMS has despite having more electronic textures.
Love how we're talking about an album that no-one is voting for

I agree! Bloodflowers is one of my favourite Cure albums but I have to be in the mood for it. To me, it is the last really decent album they made. It's quite self-indulging, from the unspectacular (but beautiful) opener to the unchanging mood but that's probably why I like it so much.
Personally, I feel about Wish the way many people feel about Bloodflowers. Lots of nice songs but nothing that really grips me, with maybe a few of exceptions. I know most of you will disagree and that's ok. Just as well we all have different tastes.
Yes Bloodflowers is definitely built around the acoustic guitar, most of the tracks have an acoustic guitar on them and the songs were probably written on them under Bob's strict tempo restrictions.
You can hear how they've taken the acoustic noodlings of Jupiter Crash to produce the beautiful There Is No If.
Bloodflowers is the set I enjoy most on the Trilogy video, the songs sound great live and Perry's guitar work especially shines.
Also, for me, The Dream tour 2000 was their last proper tour playing this wonderful album every night.
