Going to see Jah Wobble perform his rebuilt version of PIL classic metal box this week, featuring Jon Klein on guitar along with his regular band invaders of the heart... Promises to be special event
Afghan Whigs tonight. Very excited about it. I’ve been listening their last record and I love it.
Let me know what you think. I saw them 2 weeks ago & was a bit disappointed. I go back with those guys to Congregation & have seen many great shows. The guitar player who died was a big loss. I was hurting & ended up leaving a bit early. They kind of ignored Black Love this time except for maybe 1 song & that's one of my all time favorite records by anyone. Plenty from Gentlemen so it wasn't all bad, I was just having a bad night. All in all I wish I had gone to Amyl & the Sniffers instead.

So sorry you were disappointed with them. I have had an amazing time watching them tonight. Plenty of energy, loud as hell, I’ve been in first row dancing, jumping, singing and shouting like a crazy man. Greg had some problems with his amp, it sounded cracked but the energy of the band has been incredible and the crowd warm and very into it.
They have played My Enemy and Summer’s Kiss from Black Love, Gentlemen, What Jail is Like and Fountain and Fairfax from Gentlemen, and Something Hot and John the Baptist from 1966.
Unfortunately, nothing from Congregation or Up in It. Anyway, I love their three last albums as well, so I’ve been happy with everything they have throw into the set. But yeah, I’ve missed Retarded, Miles iz ded, Turn on the Water, I’m Her Slave, Debonair, Crime Scene, Blame etc, Going to Town… the list is endless.
Regarding the guitar player. I didn’t know their previous guitar player died, such a shame. But I was more than happy to see Christopher Thorne from Blind Melon. I love BM and I love Chris way of playing guitar.

I’m in bed now and my ears are ringing.
Glad you had a good time, Rafa. Yes, they were extremely loud! The previous guitar player also played in Twilight Singers. Sadly, cancer took him away far too young. The first time I saw the Whigs was at a tiny bar with not many people there around the time of Congregation. I've pretty much liked all of their records with Black Love being my favorite. Greg got screwed by a power shift at the record label with that one. I still regard it as his masterpiece. Faded is one of the most powerful live songs I've ever seen & I was missing it this time. My experience this time was colored by the health issues. I was in pretty extreme pain in my back & it finally got to the point where I just couldn't handle it & needed to get home. My concert days may be coming to an end soon unless something changes. I'm not going to as many now so I always have high expectations. Stuff like the Who I would've been at ten years ago i'm passing on now. Incidentally, I'd recommend the Roger Waters tour when it hits Europe in the spring. While not quite as good as Us & Them, it was close. I kind of view Roger as more of a theater experience than a concert. You'll be blown away as the presentation is very innovative. Thanks for the write up.
Taking myself on a date Sunday to see some dance at City Center. It's a Twyla Tharp program with a "supergroup" of dancers from different companies. The music for the piece I'm most interested in by Philip Glass. I'm not a Tharp fan (or at least I don't think I am), so in a way it's a challenge, too.
Nope, I still don't like Twyla Tharp's work. But the theater was gorgeous! And the stage was nice and big and very deep.

Back from L.A. Saw Harry Styles last week. (Probably not a lot on this forum who are fans, but it was a great show and he's a crazy good entertainer.)
November is The Vindys next week, then the Joe Walsh/James Gang with Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, Black Keys, Breeders show mid-month, then Welshly Arms at the end of the month.
Thinking about checking out Foals in early December, too.

Honestly, this Tegan and Sara show wasn’t even on our radar until the day of, when we stumbled on a couple of tickets. Sometimes good things just happen, and you roll with it. Handful of still photos from the pre-show soundcheck and Q&A, and the show itself.
I'm on a roll this week, Steve Harris is playing the fleapit round the corner from me in January. Wrong side of the river for Simon to show up, sadly..
Peter Gabriel touring new album, I/O, next summer. Front row too
Out of interest, how much was that!’?
Don't ask, absolutely brutal pricing and I had to grit my teeth. I'd have bailed if not right at the front but I've barely seen him and he's great. Fortunately, Mrs Czuczu is not a fan so I only had to get the one
Managed to nab a good seat for James on their orchestral tour next year, RAH.

That's why i asked, i just wondered what kind of price somebody like him would go far now, as its all gone mental! I saw your blur post earlier!

Yep, definitely been a post-lockdown/brexit escalation in price.
He was the most I've ever paid for a solo artist at a non-festival gig. But it was 100 less and a better seat than the VIP options with their luxury lanyards.
But the O2 is less than an hour from my front door and has a weird security gimmick - if you're front row for a seated gig then you get an extra wristband, there're extra stewards on the aisles to prevent intruders and you can stand on the barrier without being scolded
On Sunday we're taking the progeny and a friend to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway as a birthday present. They are going to sh!t themselves, I bet. Two Potter loving boys.
I don't really like Broadway (when I say that, I'm thinking mostly of the popular musicals that attract lots of tourists), but this may be fun. Times Square is a hell hole. I'm sure there will be plenty of ways to spend our hard earned $$$ on frivolous stuff and snacks.
