Comparing the band to other artists is disingenuous. As if his workload is severe...
NO had many side projects and Hooky has kept things very interesting indeed. Nick Cave has done soundtracks, books, scripts and even lost children. DM are almost predictably regular. TC have done zip except tour and take the money.
Respect - 1.

Can't say I blame him. He (& the others) must get asked the same question every single day. He's probably fed up with people like Frank saying stuff like that. I know I would be. It comes across as so entitled.
I don't like the (in)direct criticism to other bands and artists. I understand he may be tired of people's complaints about this, but he should also understand from what place these come from. I get the sense that his overreaction here betrays his own frustration for a situation that might be more under Robert's control in the end. But who knows. Anyway, if people show impatience it's because they love the band and their music and are still into them after all these years. Take it as a good sign, Simon.
I heard from sources close to the band that the other half of the songs we haven´t heard so far is the most progressive stuff they have ever done...
Not too much impressed with Simon´s comment. While I agree on principal not to rush things and work a little more on the songs if it serves the quality I dare to say it is a bit far-fetched to say something like this after whopping 5 years of waiting (counting from the time Robert announced they would finish off the new album). Also I do not get this dissing of the other bands. Depeche Mode are even friend with Robert (wouldn´t be too surprised if Robert asks Simon to delete his comment) and do they not have also a large span of time between their records for a while now? And based on Simon´s logic The Cure have been cash grabbers in the eighies for releasing every two year an album (I don´t think that way)? Also it is a bit of a missed opportunity. He could have said something more valueable. We still don´t know from his answer if mixing is done, is happening right now or is going to happen in future. 😅
So nothing new, the album will come out, when it comes out, if it comes out.
This album had better be their magnum opus. 😅

Simon could have taken a selfie with the mixing console or in the studio or made a video of someone in a live booth. That would shut ppl up. Instead he comes off as indignant that ppl are tired of waiting. He's supposed to suffer for his art, not his fans. 😅

Notice no one has called him out on slamming Radiohead.
It must be pretty annoying to have that be the #1 thing people bring up to you for the past "few" years. All of the people in all of said bands mentioned by SG are of an age now and have been in the music business for long enough that I hope they take this all with a bit of understanding that, in the grand scheme of things, your peers get (justifiably) annoyed and sometimes pop off and it's not going to change the course of your life. As you get older and people die, etc., I would imagine someone saying something like that to the press doesn't land the same as when you were 23.
I have nothing solid on which to base this but I wouldn't be surprised if Sir G runs a bit hot / intense. Call it a vata, pitta, kapha, astrological hunch, whatever. Often, when people burn intensely, the blaze is over relatively quickly. Just gotta get it out there...
I can't comment about Radiohead. I know almost nothing about their music or loyalty to their fans.
What I see from TC is live albums and DVD's that, generally, no one was asking for. Think Anniversary and Cureation vs Sydney 2011 vs Sydney 2019. Bestival vs BBC. The DVDs we do want don't happen, the same with CDs.
If Simon is feeling the heat he could get up of his rich ass and write some songs or a book or paint. 😅. He won't though because he's very comfortable with how things are.
Tweeting like a twit is poor form and further damages my perception of TC.

They announced the album, a few times, and have toured it/them fairly regularly since.
They create the expectation and then dissemble. If they got down to work it'd be done.
I'm inclined to think it was done, and rejected. Now they are remixing and overdubbing or even rewriting it. Or, they have run out of creativity and the songs are Shirt, there's some evidence for that already I'd argue. 😅

Er....no they didn't announce a new album. They teased the fact that an album was in the works, but it's never been "announced". Then they rolled out a hand full of songs reportedly from the new album on the tour(s)
I don´t agree. They did not announce a specific release date for the album, but Robert announced several times in interviews that they will release a new album, he announced the title of the new album, announced that the artwork is done, there is even merch for this album and on the official Twitter account he mentioned "Songs from a Lost World" as upcoming album.
