Can't help thinking the likely broadcast of the Glastonbury set, while being great for watching live, has a good chance of killing off or postponing any commercial release of the Hyde Park film.

Pope's made such a song & dance about it though &, in any case, if released as a commercial blu ray/ dvd it'll have decent audio on it & not the cr@ppy low bitrate mush that comes with digital TV broadcasts. & it'll be a The Cure film rather than a BBC film of a The Cure show.

All good arguments, fingers crossed! I'm not sure a distributor will see it the same way :/
question: i've only been at this on the forum since 2016. has there been any other "recent" tours where they've done the same set every night? that's 4 identical sets in a row (minus 1 never enough). if this continues perhaps they should call the tour "pensions" (a play on "reflections". sorry, its early) . the performances have been pretty good except austria where robert seemed a bit too inebriated. rest of the band was fine. i really hope they start changing things up at least a little & soon!
TCT in 2014 was identical back to back but that was because they were filming for potential release.
Summercure was the most recent/similar kind of tour but that had a Wish flavour and a Disintegration flavour + gently rotated stuff.
I'm still quite miffed they rehearsed and played all those deep cuts in the US in 2016 and then promptly binned them when they got to Europe
i got spoiled in 2016. the 2 shows i saw were early in the tour & radically different. covered a lot of bases! i'm not complaining, just a bit disappointed in the tour so far regarding the set lists.
I'm not going until mid-Aug so it should be dark when they come on and they should be bored of the current set! It's a Bob line-up too, not a typical festival so hopefully that'll make a difference

I am thinking the same, no variations in the setlists is dissapointing to say the least.
I believed after the outstanding Disintegration Tour, the band seemed in a phenomenal shape, Robert will decide different setlists during the festivals, more pop songs for obvious reasons, but not the same songs in the same order.
I really hope he changes maybe the half of the songs soon. Robert knows they have a HUGE catalog to choose from.
What do you think, the rest of the band get bore of playing the same every night but accept without complaints the Robert´s setlists?
There Was Nothing in the World that I Ever Wanted More than to Feel You Deep in My Heart...

That's brilliant, they should definitely call it the Pensions Tour!! Or the 'Roger needs a new Ferrari' tour

I doubt they get bored of playing the same songs every night, especially as a lot of these songs have been constants in the setlists for at least the last 10 years.
It just means they get better and better at playing them. And when you got the best back catalogue in the business, it doesn't matter what songs they play, there's only a few duds out of the 250+ songs.

This is exactly why I don't feel sad we decided not to see any of these festival shows. It's kind of playing out in a way that validates the misgivings I had about making a trip for any of them.
If I were 20 years (or even 15 years, lol) younger and had the cash at such an age to do it, maybe. But as "closer to 50" I'm not keen on the festival scene, which is, I think, how nature intended it.

And with a lot of these festivals having a live video, it's easy for cure fans to see the show without the hassles and expenses of being there. It's definitely win win, especially for already sold out festivals they announced like glasto.

I have mixed feelings about the "is it live or is it memorex" feed dynamic, but yes, it makes it accessible.
It reminds me a bit of the drone concert experience episode of Portlandia.
