This is one of those songs that still today, when listened to properly, brings tears to my eyes. Others are Pictures of You or A Pink Dream.
Someone should open a thread with The Cure plagiarizing the cure. Just like when they were accused of copying Blue Monday, the cure have copied the cure oftimes.
This is an example: the riff is the same as the one in Burn. (and by the way, there are another two New Order songs that are almost carbon copy of Cure ones, I'll tell you which ones because I don't remember the titles, only the albums: one is in Movement and it's just like Inbetween Days, and the other is in Power, Corruption & Lies I think and it's just like Just Like Heaven)
So, as I was saying, notice the similarities -musically speaking- between The Walk and Never Enough... you can sing either one! and, more surprisingly How Beautiful You Are and Lovesong!
"In The Loudest Sound, I address the fear of never feeling that you´ve been in touch with anyone else, that you´ve never communicated on any kind of deep level, and that you essentially remain isolated through life. You end up with somebody you believe is your soul mate and then discover you´ve made a horrible mistake. That kind of regret informs a lot of what I write, although in my waking hours I don´t necessarily feel that way. Contentment isn´t what drives me lyrically, so fans tend to only know the discontent side of me. The 90% of me that doesn´t write those songs actually has a really good time."

monghi, thanks for sharing that insight. That's a bit of a different read than I originally had on the song, so it will be interesting to think of this next time I hear it.
It's also funny to think, "How can one of the most verbally expressive (at least in terms of writing) people I can think of fear he hasn't communicated on a deep level?!" I find myself doubting that's true... Save
