My husband's brother sent him a picture of a beer he is liking as a recommendation since we're dedicated beer drinkers in our household. Wait for it...
The brewery (actually, they are contract brewers, so they don't have their own brewery but currently brew out of New Paltz, NY) is called Foreign Objects. Their TC offerings are Fascination Street (7.5% New-American Hoppy Ale) and The Hanging Garden (7.0% New-American Hoppy Ale).
We are going to see if anyone in the city has them on tap or for sale.
Interestingly, they also have two Cocteau Twins themed beers! Glass Candle Grenades and In the Gold Dust Rush.
I wonder if they had to seek approval from the bands to do this...
The write ups are brilliant. The Hanging Garden beer
Like creatures kissing in the rain, and catching halos on the moon, this New-American hoppy ale will give your hands the shape of angels and leave you with aromatic dreams of grapefruit-resin, soft melon, mythical plants of rarefied and incomparable beauty, and the perfumed passions lurking in the sultry darkness the gardens at night. Shapeless in the dark, cover your face, drink deeply falling forever into a dream.
& Fascination Street
That infinite soundtrack of longing & manic passion...This New-American Hoppy Ale was inspired by the perfect expression of those moments and emotions...it’s fading and paling and we know that it’s over, so get out and drink the manic sensory explosion of Citra & Vic Secret hops in this beer that burst with aromas of deep red grape skins & tropical citrus. So just put on your head and put on your pout and let’s hit opening time down on Fascination Street.

Hmm, that writing seems oddly derivative...
And thanks for changing the thread title for me, steve. Caught that after it was too late and it killed me.
It's my "Friday" today, so enjoying my second can of The Hanging Garden after a tough work week.
First impressions are that there is definitely something floral going on here. Not like drinking perfume, it's pretty understated, but it's the first thing I noticed. Like opening your mouth in a thick, foggy, nighttime garden.
I enjoy a really, really bitter IPA, but this is not so hop-forward that you couldn't enjoy two in a row. It doesn't hammer every last taste bud, so also not bad if you're enjoying one while eating and actually want to taste your food.
Any sweetness in this (and there isn't much, just enough to take the edge off) isn't malty at all, which is good. I hate a malty, sweet beer.
I also love that this is 7% abv. I don't get out of bed for anything under 7%.
Dammit, if these guys get busted for copyright infringement or something, I'll be bummed. Really want to try Fascination Street and the Cocteau Twins ones.
