Hi Mr59. I have my own booklet in front of me, and I read the above photos as they were posted on this thread. I didn't miss reading them.
Robert clearly explains the reasons why all three mixes were left off this collection: they did not make the cut, i.e., they were not up to snuff, they were not up to his standards, they were not good enough, they failed the grade, they sucked, they blew chunks, they weren't all that. Pick your metaphor, they were left off for the reasons he lists in quite clear fashion.
Specifically, he opines (and you'll never get this on any other group's deluxe edition. Try finding negative comments on Bad Company's remasters):
PRIMARY: "Basically it's a 7-inch instrumental mix... I don't think either me or Mike Hedges were very much into" = SUCKS, not good enough
THE LOVECATS: "not really a remix, actually the original recording edited down into a single" = SUCKS, not good enough
INBETWEEN DAYS: "edited by person or persons unknown... I can honestly say I had nothing to do with it"
So in all three cases, here's why these junk tracks were not included on a 4th disc. Robert wants his best work on here, not discarded rubbish.
I'm sure the internet is a vast place, and you can hear them in other formats than an official re-release.
hello AForestFan
I think we still talk past each other here a bit :-)
I clearly understand the reasons why Robert left the aforementioned three remixes off the CDs (quality reasons, CD length reasons too I suppose).
My point is a completely different one: Robert hints in the booklet that
- these three remixes were "remastered 2018"
- these three remixes are/will be "available digitally"
That's all! That's my whole point! ;-) That these remixes might have been remastered 2018 and might be released digitally. No need to post the (very funny, I love Monty Python) deaf parrot clip here - I did understand you :-)
But let's stop this discussion about this now, we will see if these three remixes will turn up digitally one day or not.
Let's enjoy the brilliant 3CD "Mixed Up" and hope for future deluxe editions (would love to see "Wish" and "Bloodflowers" given deluxe editions)
