I’ll try to keep this brief as GW29 begins on Saturday.
emilystrange has also made a lovely roundup here
Shakira had put Stoke ahead on the visit to Leicester as new manager Lambert continues to struggle with the Potters’ success rate. A success rate that wasn’t helped by Butland’s own goal in the 70th minute as the away side dropped 2 valuable points.
Bournemouth looked done for, trailing 0-2 at half time as the fans booed them off the pitch. But late drama saw the Cherries turn the game around to rescue a point at home.
Brighton hosted Swansea whose return to form was brought to an abrupt halt getting gubbed 4-1 on the South coast while more drama unfolded as Southampton/s Gabiadini equalised (yes, he scored an actual goal) for the Saints at Burnley denying the clarets their first win of 2018.
Liverpool surged into 2nd place after dismantling Wet Spam where little Bobby Firmino was just showing off while Wet Broom tighten their grip on the foot of the table, losing 1-2 to Huddersfield who look to have turned their frown upside down (for now anyway).
Watford vs Everton was almost painful to witness as quality appeared to have taken a holiday somewhere far far away. The only goal of the game came from Deeney who had some choice words in his post match interview, accepting his MOTM award as being “the best of a bad bunch”.
Sunday kicked off with at Selhurst Park where Palace had to raid the U23 squad to get fit players. & it almost worked, holding Spurs off for 88 minutes at which point Harry Kane scored his millionth career goal despite Hennessey pulling off some brilliant saves to keep the score under 6 or 7.
JoMo’s feud with Conte appeared to be at an end when Chelski popped in to Old Trafford. & ManUre’s defence was ripped apart in the 32nd minute with a superb Willian thunderbolt. But Untidy, looking strangely attacking for a change, turned it up a notch as Lukaku scored & assisted to hand The Special One a special win which leapfrogged them over Liverpool back into 2nd.
In their infinite wisdom, the PL decided not to add the Thursday game to GW29 but rather include it in GW28.
& it was a rematch of the league cup final. But with half the fans missing. It ook just 15 minutes for Citeh to take the lead & a further 18 to bury the hosts. It now looks like the only thing that can possibly ruin Man Citeh’s champions party is if someone steals all the sky blue ribbons on the planet.
In the FPL there was a turn of fortune as the EIB took the week by 44 points on 581 points.
But with a commanding lead overall, the BB&S have amassed 16021 points .
Mish Mosh managed to keep hold of the Yellow Jersey for another week & the Big Shout Out, with 69 points, went to…oh it was me
Doubling the joy, the EIB nicked the H2H by 6 points while the overall lead was retaken by the BB&S on 479 points.
& to round off the accolades, AFC Tigers roar proudly in the crown.
What with the Beast From The East snowmageddoning the place up all week, access to the shed is proving problematic. We have already lost one volunteer & the delivery of the blue paint for the lines on the pitch is stuck on the motorway somewhere.
The good news is that we have pitch heating so we should be ready….some time….we hope.
Anyhoo, no time to lose. Let's get the troops sorted out & welcome everyone to your GW29 thread
