London is horrible generally. It's also very pricy. I think shared bathrooms are more on budget hotels & hostels but if you're only staying in town for a couple of days it's a small price to pay for a bed for the night I guess. Have you looked at Easy Hotels? Very basic, but does the trick
I’ve booked the Easy Hotel Paddington. The rooms are tiny but we get our own bathroom and we’re not going to be in there much. It was one of the cheapest places near Hyde Park that we could find. Anyone ever stayed there?
You get a bed and a bathroom. It's simple but does the job well. You can sit on the bed or the toilet to put your shoes on, your choice.
I looked on booking.com, for the moment we've found a shared room in Smart Hyde Park Inn Hostel, 20 minutes away from Hyde Park by foot. Not royal apartaments but for one night it's bearable and I guess cheap I have never been in London before. Very excited to go!

Worth having a look on the easy hotel site too. Not sure what the closest one to the venue will be though & chances are, given the scale of the event, just about everything will probably booked up. Sounds like you got a good place already though, so may be worth sticking with that.
I'll be flying all the way from Reunion Island, and I'm currently looking at Airbnbs (being a host myself).
Still, I wouldn't pass on the opportunity to meet some fellow Cure fans that would spare a room and a few good stories about our lives at both ends of the globe ! (And of course our love for The Cure).
Re. bad hotel reviews, I wouldn't pay too much attention to them unless they're consistently bad. Probably a British thing but I tend to find that people only take the trouble to review if they've had a spectacularly bad or good experience. I have to stay in London fairly often and find the hotels are much the same as one another (in my price bracket, anyway!) - small rooms but clean and comfortable enough.
Hope everyone travelling has superb trips.

I might have a hotel room to share. I booked an 3-person studio for Friday and Saterday night for me, my wife and our son (~190 pounds/night). But probably they won't come along and I would have enough space to share if anyone's still desperatly looking for a placr to stay. I will know by tommorrow noon latest if they come along or stay at the campsite out of town (we're currently travelling in England by motorhome)
