I really hope they don't play safe and play very few singles and more deeper, darker songs but if I have to be rational it's a festival and they could decide to showcase their hits of these last 40years. I'd love to hear "so what", "new day" (I guess it takes a lot of drugs to sing it convincingly), "cold" and I love their version of "Stop dead" at RAH . I checked the other bands out and I don't like them so I'll basically be 100% there for The Cure. Whatever the setlist I'm happy to see them again but I'm afraid 2 hours will go by in the blink of an eye...still better than no Cure fix at all.
I wouldn't look at it as a festival. More of a party really. I suspect there will be some oddities in the set, but there will certainly be some crowd pleasers. You cannot, in all honesty, expect they will do 2 hours of obscure stuff that most of the audience prolly won't really know.
I cant understand why it´s only a 2 hour show. Why? They all (and so the band too) call it a 40TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT with special guests. So there is no reason why this must come up like a "normal" festival.
If there is really only one concert, promoted as anniversary-special, it could be the perfect day & night for a never-ending setlist....
My guess is that it is their party & they've chosen the other bands on the bill & probably would like to see them play. Add to that the fact there's a curfew & it's going to put a cap on the allotted time for sure.
I think curfew in Hyde Park is 23:00 o’clock - or what do You say... and if they break curfew, some ones car will turn into a pumpkin or something terrible like that...
I have heard, that the rich guys that owns the buildings around Hyde Park demand that curfew is at eleven, and we all know how money talks...
Well - that is just what I have heard...
Will love if they started with Plainsong. It’s so perfect as at first song. Starts with the bells, and then: booom the atmosphere is filled up with sound! Plainsong as first song will make the show goosebumpy...
They could also do a more abrupt start with Shake dog Shake. That will make the show more punk I think...
Well I really don’t care. I just excited to be there!
Plainsong has been the opener frequently but it really is a spine tingling way to open. How about that plus 10:15, The Kiss, M, Faith, Jupiter Crash, Cold, Out of this World, The Blood, The Top. Encore with A Boy I Never Knew and The Upstairs Room and Forever, then maybe Freak Show or Mint Car, something dancy that hasn't been played to death. Wishful thinking setlist...
But it doesn't matter I will just about fall over with excitement when they start playing.
It would be so perfect if you would just fall out the window

I'm definitely bummed about the 120 minute cap noted in the press releases, and I get that they probably have to pander a bit since it's a festival-like performance, but I am really hopeful we will get some special moments given the anniversary banner this is being presented under.

I think, because they are notorious for 3 hour + sets, they need to make sure everyone knows it'll bee a bit shorter. But, like you say, with it being the anniversary, I'm pretty sure they'll wheel out some treats
Perhaps we will see something similar to Manchester on the last tour? That was exactly 120 minutes after all... Well, I'm at least thinking that the basic structure of the set will be in the vein of 2016. Surely not a bad thing? It had a bit of everything. Realistically...
I never thought I would say this but I'd like it to be as happy and bright set as possible, with a force and joy coming from the stage. A Forest and Play For Today are a must. But I also know I'll take everything they give and I'll be ecstatic starting from the first sound.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
I was thinking...what if the 2 hours would be to play a new entire album (like they did in Rome) plus some old songs? That would be interesting, to be honest I'd love them to play 4 hours and a lot of their darker stuff but yes, whatever they do is fine.
