it will probably be only one dvd (or double dvd maybe) documentary. That's a a big short. Release the whole content of the 50 dusty boxes and we'll be just fine.
Well, if it's not The Cure in Orange, that's not very exciting. We don't need another video collection, unless they are re-releasing Staring At the Sea: The Images.
Live clips interspersed with candid archive clips would be preferable to a straight documentary - a la Staring At The Sea. With a running time of 20 hours please.
If a docco is made well it can be staggeringly good. If they did something along the lines of The Death & Resurrection Show or All About The Young Idea, or even Five Foot Two (which was actually incredibly good) then that'd work nicely I think.
Agree. There a plenty of great docs examples. I would prefer a good documentary rather than a live clips a la Staring at the sea. I'm sure there are lot of good stories that they can tell. and I also think is the right time to do it.

I think it needs to be interspersed with the music though. If it was just band members & band related people talking for 2 hours it could be a bit dry. But yes, definitely the right time & we were saying, just last week, it'd be great to see Ten Imaginary Years brought up to date. What a brilliant opportunity to do it in a video format.
There's so little re-watch value to a doc, even the great ones are only good for a few viewings. Should they have talking heads - is it worth risking Dom Joly to get some Siouxsie? Who could narrate a doc without making viewers want to pull their teeth out?
Give them a a crate of beer and put them in a room to come up with a commentary track over the top of loads of historic footage - best of both worlds!
