Also, I don't mind if they take their time recording as long as Robert comes out and tells us something... anything. He can tell us what he eats for breakfast, I just want something from him...

I'd adore a new album and I am with you sang A Boy I Never Knew would be a wonderful choice. I could see it going well with both Step Into The Light and Icnbts (which is still one of my most favourite Cure tracks for a very long time). I agree that a bloodflowers atmosphere or sound would work well. To be honest though I'd be happy with anything!
i'd love a new album, that's what i thought this tour was going to be about. we havent had a proper album tour since the dream tour.
what was the purpose of this tour? i dont understand why they chose to do a huge world tour with no new album or anything to promote.
as far a new album being a double, it worked with KMKMKM because they had 24 brilliant songs without a single dud to choose from. in those days anything robert wrote was gold, he was on such a songwriting roll.
i think they'd be better aiming for a single album, he's talked in interviews about all these various albums but nothing comes out. why not take the best 8 to 10 songs from all these sessions and make a total classic?? quality over quantity.
another 8 or 9 songs as good as "please come home" would be perfect

Here is my take on this
So a year has passed and The Cure has finally release their new album. The record cover Art, designed by Andy Bella, who recently won best cover album art for 2017 and is in the running for a Grammy for the best recording package, is probably the easiest thing to mention about the album. The New Cure Album sound is like no other in comparison. The album offers what was seen as a glimpse of greatness and the magnificent chemistry as seen last year during the Cure’s 2016 world tour who’s current line up include the leading front man-Robert Smith, Current Fit bit spoke man-Simon Gallup, Hair model-Roger O’Donnell, the beast on the drums-Jason Cooper, and the man that most air guitar players envy-Reeves Gabriel’s.
Fans of the band have been waiting with great anticipation for nearly a year as rumors first surfaced on theCureCommunityForum of a 13 song album to be release at the end of the year. Fans were first treated with the singles release of It Can Never Be the Same and Step Into The Light whose cover art was first designed by darkblood back in March and June of 2017. Musically, ICNBTS flows effortlessly, and the vocals literally cradle you from beginning to end. While, SITL explores vintage Cure Textures, layering guitar harmonics, synth pads and distorted bass into a six-minute storm cloud. Both singles included the B-sides of the songs A boy I never Knew and A few Hours after this.
I will not spoil or give away the rest of the songs and their magnificence. All I can say is that this records has forever cemented The Cure as THE GREATEST band that has ever lived. I can say that The Kiss cover version by Reeves is magnificent.

i'm ready for a new 1 with reeves. he is such an outstanding guitar player who is always evolving. & i was just listening to some tape from this tour where roger & jason were really clear. both were outstanding. jason is becoming a favorite drummer. i think he is constantly getting better. perfect for robert. i like the james murphy idea. he would definitely bring a different vibe but not be overbearing. don't think i'm wild about eno or flood concept. i really don't want to go to u2 land with the cure. eno has produced some good work but tends to make bands tools of eno. i think he & robert would clash & to no good effect. my choice (steve violently disagrees but that's ok. we all like different things ) would be trent reznor. i really want a gloriously wanky guitar record as both reeves & robert are awesome guitarists. robert horribly underrated. trent is a fan & i liked his work with bowie. i think he would let robert lead but contribute some good & different ideas. just my opinion, colored by it would be 2 of my favorite artists working together. kiss me X 3 would be a good place to start both for sound & diversity. double record is a fine idea as robert has to have a stash of stuff because it has been so long. he lives with his muse & that doesn't just turn off.
It would be great if they will think of the album as a vinyl. I mean, as if CD's and streaming wouldn't exist. CD era damaged the concept of the album, not to mention these instant tech times we live in.
When CD appeared, old vinyl time constraints expanded so much, up until almost 70 minutes. Bands tended then to make longer albums, resulting in most cases as less perfect, or directly boring ones. They were able to put all the stuff they had, and that was almost never a good idea. A careful selection of the finest material is always needed.
WMS is an example of it. Before CD time, WMS would never made it as a double vinyl. The only reason it was released like that is because of the CD, wich runs for 61 minutes. It could have been a less boring album in the old single vinyl format, running for about 40/42 minutes.
So I hope they will go that route again. Eight great songs will be enough for me. Not fourteen. About 40 minutes of the finest songwriting they are capable of nowadays, wich is still a very hard task to accomplish.
Maybe Robert has lost his confidence to release another album?
After a peerless run of 10 albums from three imaginary boys to wish which equals any bands back catalogue, there was a dip with WMS due to poor tracklisting choices.
The Cure recovered with the classic Bloodflowers but the last 2 albums have had mixed reception and poor production and over compression.
Take a song like Underneath the Stars from 4:13. It's a brilliant song loved by most fans but how many times has it been played live? A measly 17 times. It should have been played lots on the recent tour with the also great It's Over as the set finisher.
But instead, it was the usual open/end and plainsong/disintegration alternated most nights. The whole tour was very much a wish/disintegration/head on the door showcase with very little from the last 2 albums.
So it looks like Robert has lost confidence in playing self titled/4:13 dream so will he ever have the nerve to release anything new again?

I agree, 8 brilliant songs at around 40 minutes would be wonderful.
That format certainly worked for faith and pornograhy, even Japanese whispers!
Before three and hungry ghost were both played at Wembley recently.
True but that's only one track from each of the last two albums, almost like they had been added to the setlist so they had something from those albums.
Some nights they played like 9 songs from disintegration or 7 songs from wish!
It's crazy that I've seen them lots live recently but have still never heard songs like real Snow White/reasons why/sirensong live, tracks I really enjoy
