I got that impression from the Bestival release. If they release something I'd rather have a proper band recording in a studio with them all involved in the writing and working with a sympathetic producer. But that all costs money, which would have to be self-funded if they don't have a deal. I can't imagine Reeves being happy overdubbing old unreleased stuff - he bailed on Bowie when he wasn't creatively satisfied. It'd be nice to think they're at least demoing individually and saving stuff up for a next release.

Did Robert do any interviews at all during the 2016 tour? Last I heard, Reeves was asked a few years ago what the plans were for The Cure. He stated any official announcement is Robert's business, but that fans of The Cure would be very happy, very soon. Sadly, I think he was aluding to the 2016 tour.
I only hope we get an album from this lineup, before Reeves exits. He's never been one to really care for being in a successful band. He is happy just doing his own thing.
He was with Bowie for over ten years. He inspired Bowie to take risks again after the 80's and was dead against performing Bowie's hits live in concert. Bowie's setlists were amazing on the 95-97 tours.
I am guessing Reeves had a lot to do with the Cure adding obscurities like Just One Kiss, Stop Dead, Fight, This Twilight Garden and most of The Top album, particularly Bananafishbones.
Reeves and Porl are two of my favorite guitarists ever.
