A bit late due to internet problems. As we say in French, "better late than never" !
I arrived early to see TTS and did not really enjoy them. They tended to overplay and that made the whole thing artificial and even lacking consistence. That's only my opinion of course.
Concerning The Cure I felt all different. Even if I did not expect a wish set I went instantly into it with open. All I want played second was a nice surprise that made me dive completely into the show. The main set with no surprises was bad luck imo but I really did not care as I know (and see...) that we all grow older and older... And that from early begining Robert had voice troubles, which I think were not noticeable by non-fans but it's clear to me he spared his voice. Anyway I knew tears and shivers and it was good ! The boys are still performing with great intensity. It can never be the same and burn were great, very great, especially burn with its tribal rythmics. Obviously the audience was happy and everybody arround me has been standing from the beggining to the end. In 2016 The Cure still delivers pleasure and happiness.
In my opinion the setlist is too poppy but this is just relative to my tastes. I found the lightshow excellent : efficient and discrete. My wife, who is not a fan but knows the group quite well and for long, said to me just after the show ended: "they did not play jumping someone else's train" and that showed me 2 things. First the show was a bit short and second the song played were too "mainstream" maybe. She did not mentionned Robert's voice. But how could it be different without a new albut and with Robert 57 ? We are lucky fans and should be happy with what we get.
Just one very personal remark now.you should agree or not:I have been astonished by all these people with their phones. I asked myself wether they are real living humans or just cogs belonging our consumption society. Phones should be forgotten and even forbidden ! They are a real harm. Please, be discreet with phones, understand you are not alone in such a crowd ! Keep minimal respect !
All in all I had a f*****g great night and can't wait for next time in London.
