What I could see Robert didn't seem to be annoyed that people approached him. They asked him in a friendly way and then they left him alone. I mean, he sat there for two hours and could do his stuff. I don't know if that would be the case at Heathrow .... But I didn't have the guts. What do you say? but it was a highlight anyway!

the time i was a little star struck was i got to meet keith richards backstage at a solo show. i mean this is KEITH RICHARDS! he immediately put me at ease though. i had on a cool dress shirt with skulls on it & he came up to me & said "hey, my man....". he was awesome! got to talk to bobby keyes for quite awhile at that event & he was so cool. such a legendary player & really down to earth. i mean that guy played with elvis, beatles, stones to name a few. recently i've been running into players from the seattle seahawks. they've been cool. same thing applies there. i'm glad to hear that people were cool with robert & he was approachable. i've always thought that he seemed like he would be.
Dear friends, I am sorry that I was pretty much egoistic during the gig regarding the sharing, but I really, really wanted to enjoy it fully with my better half. It was glorious indeed. Before entrance I enjoyed sound check with Millhaus and kauderwelsch. It was great to hear fantastic version of Like Cockatoos and to see group of "pretty older" Cure-fans (I am 42, btw ) singing Other Voices in full force and to follow all other songs from Bloodflowers. I think they have played 39 as well! And, of course, I was thinking: what a fantastic bunch of songs we will not hear tonight. But fortunately (mainly) I was very wrong! Beer helped as well (it is Munich!), only lager outside, but Weissbier inside. Opening with Bloodflowers-song was "not-so-predictable"... Closedown "downed" me completely, for I was so desperate for it. There was fantastic The Hungry Ghost - never better! Push was real pusher! Always so nice to see those waves in standing crowd... And then this 1981-trilogy took me to the bottom. During Other Voices at least 50 people around me just jumped. Charlotte Sometimes was magnificent. Around 1st encore I was already out of steam. A Forest was highlikgt, like always. Of course, greedy, like I am, I still awaited some Faith or even The Holy Hour at the end - but nevertheless it was definitely best set list so far in Europe. I keep my fingers crossed for upcoming shows and another round of surprises. My estimation is that some 12.000 people really enjoyed great gig. Atmosphere was so positive. The band was at the height really. They have been much more "in line" than, for example, in London, during March shows, 2014. Logically, now I sooo desire to see them once more during the tour and even have some plans for Montpellier - but that is not very realistic. Anyway, now I am pretty sure that The Cure have at least five years more ahead, so there will be some chances. Cheers!

blackmoodswings Thanks for the piccies. I have re-hosted them (also resized). If you have any more, could you use the "Add image to post" button? It saves our server from filling up. Ta much
Hehe, exactly Millhaus I should have said 'hello', but I was too scared! Only one person approached him while he sat in the restaurant surfing the web with his space grey Macbook (for those who wonder ), and one guy asked for a photo.
I think it's dead respectful to leave the guy alone, I mean unless you've got something bursting out your mouth and need to say it...you know? what would you say ' Oh hey you're Robert Smith and I'm .... erm.....not'
I wouldn't have been as respectful as you...actually I saw him once backstage at a Pixies festie...He came out of his 4x4 black jeep and I'm sat drinking with my girl and she said hey look it's Bob! He stood there a bit like he didn't expect to be that long alone and sure enough he soon wasn't. And I preferred the company I was with at the time so I didn't go to say 'nice jeep' or whatever either...so sure, maybe I wouldn't have said anything in the airport cafe either...dunno...
Either way, I think its very cool that you gave the guy his space...and thats not meant to bug the folk that would have said hello...it's just cool that you went on your will, if you know what I mean...I'm avoiding accounts here..let me shut up and get back to em!
don't know if someone postet this already: during soundcheck they played out of this world, last day of summer, bloodflowers, other voices, like cockatoos
I´m feeling very stupid now--but by soundcheck, do you mean the songs you could hear very faintly while standing just outside the Olympiahalle? So you were there, too? I´ll have to look at you profile picture once more, see if you are one of the faces I remember from that wonderful night! It actually felt very funny to me as I stepped out of the subway train and ...
