Went to a teeny, massively undersold festival Fri and Sat this week. Very retro line up but all crowd pleasers. Only an hour down the road too so no camping nonsense. Such a good vibe though, every band playing their first gigs in forever, all saying how good it is to see fields full of people again. And they're right

Honestly, jealous you got to see The Selecter. LOVE them. If you haven't, check out Pauline's autobiography, Black by Design. It's good.
czuczu did you have to present your vax card at the venue before they let you in ?
Most gigs and big events are dependent on either an LFT (or PCR) during last 48hrs or confirmation of 2x jabs. We have an NHS app that links it all together and that gets checked on way in. Our vax rate is over 75% of eligible adults which is helping quite a bit, we'll see what happens when the schools go back tho..

Oh that’s crap! Who was playing ?
It was only a local one - an acoustic Jam gig with the bass player from the Jam and another fella singing. Night in with the PS5 will do for a Wednesday
Steve Hackett playing Genesis' Seconds Out at the Palladium last night. For 3 hrs which is an hour more prog than my brain can handle. Good but genuinely exhausting.
Last of his warm up dates before his outdoor gig this weekend. The new stuff is a lot closer to Electronic than The Smiths, he's even added another body to his band to handle keys and electronic stuff. He's got an enjoyably mixed crowd these days, loads of kids and young'uns in

Never heard a Smiths tune sung by him. Must be strange.
He's surprisingly good at the old stuff - I don't think he even realises he's doing it but his singing voice changes slightly and he actually sounds a lot like the other fella, it's not like he's impersonating him but he obviously knows all the intonations perfectly. That same Manc accent too
Out of the 2 of them, there's only 1 I'd pay money to see - leaving all the baggage aside, Marr has a really good band. They're not flashy but have been with him for his whole solo career, his guitarist can play all fiddly vintage Marr parts too. Unlike the other one's band who sound like they have hooves for hands...
