too bad they dont throw in any surprices anymore on the tour, they annonced surprice cuts before the tour, and they did in the beginning, and then they stopped, pretty weird
I dunno really. Jupiter Crash, Burn, Bananafishbones, Closedown got aired tonight. It's all very well us looking at a screen & not seeing a massive mixed bag each night, but I reckon to be at a show & get to see those 4 for the first time in ages would be quite a buzz. I suppose it's relative in that respect. We all pretty much know Burn is a fixture now. But if they didn't play it at a show you or I went to (for example) we'd be quite upset about it (I would for sure). If they play it, we'd both be pretty stoked at being able to see it live for the first time ourselves. That's how I'm trying to absorb the shows so far. Yep, we know what could be coming (now), but hey! I want to see it for myself too
Thanks for the lovely entertaining read everyone! As always, I think the Cure delivered a fun set. We're probably that 10% who would like a little more, but that's because we're comparing every night to each other. But it is surprising how Plainsong and Disintegration have become the standard for Oz. Plainsong is such an epic opener though. I know if I was only going to one show of the entire tour, that would be my hope for the opener!!
good points to steve and sang, but it have been a while since the b-sides have got some attention on this tour, and i got high hopes for more of them, based on the beginng of the tour
I think we all did & with This Twilight Garden we really struck gold. But not really. The audience there did really. I would dearly love to "see" more "deeper cuts" & I know others want more "darker cuts". They might come. They might not. The Cure have always done it their own way & I suppose that's why we love them.
Try not to blabber on too much about the Melbourne show. My impressions are that the audience and the band gelled in Melbourne and for me personally it produced an unforgettable night.
Yes, we got Plainsong, POY and Closedown again but that was fine with me although it would have been nice to start with hmmm, let's see, The Kiss. My highlights were Doing The Unstuck, Bananafishbones, Want was very powerful and Prayers for Rain, so intense. Adored One Hundred Years, even better than Sydney and Melbourne really got a cracking A Forest because they deserved it! Although it's true Robert doesn't sing Disintegration as he used to Melbourne's version was very emotional and special.
Robert remarked that he didn't remember Melbourne being this cold, and he thought Australia was all sunshine and love . It was very chilly but perfect Cure weather. As for the encores, the whole place were out of their seats, singing, smiling, it was magic. Again Robert looked so happy. For me Melbourne was so much better than Sydney so I am very glad I did 2 shows and now, I really wish I had pushed on to Adelaide but no matter.
Thank you The Cure, you delivered more than could have been expected of you, now we need a new album .
If you do read this forum, please play Pornography in Perth, we need to have it appear at least once in Aus.
Also, it was so pleasing to see so many young fans in the crowd loving this great band!
