For some reason (yes, probably $$$) Elektra are re-issuing the first six The Cure albums using the 180g vinyl gimmick as a selling point. I can't find any info on what masters were used for the pressing which is the important thing, as 180g vinyl makes absolutely no difference to the sound quality. Still, I'm pretty sure some collectors might be interested, so fill your boots
This reissue thing... It should be mandatory to specify wich masters are used for the pressings, clearly stated on a sticker. Money, money, money, money...

It'll be credited on the sleeve/ label for sure, but I've not seen any images yet. Bottom line is if they use the remasters from the last reissues, they'll sound exactly the same. Unless they're pressed on re-ground vinyl or coloured vinyl. Then they'll sound dreadful
How about putting out some stuff from the vaults instead? The 2 cd version of "Show" that came out in the Netherlands springs to mind. & I've mentioned previously, a deluxe dvd/blu-ray of "Show" would be mighty cool. Also, how about "The Cure in Orange"? Would luv to have that on blu-ray!
Yeah, maybe, but I was generally speaking, steve. There are A LOT of reissues from many different bands that, as you know, uses cd's to press the records, wich is an aberration and a fraud to the buyer, who really doesn't know anything about the process involved in making a fine record. And about Cure re-releases, they should stick to the original mix masters, wich, IMHO, are superior to the remasters.

I would love a Join the Dots vinyl box version. That would be a dream.

While that's a nice notion, those things already exist (in one form or another). Reissues are great, but only if they are an improvement on what came before. Sadly, that's not always the case. Given the relentless flood of reissues, stupid coloured limited editions etc over recent years, I would prefer something completely new. Maybe, after this tour, that might happen

I was thinking of stuff that is out of print or in the case of the 2 videos I mentioned, have never been issued on dvd or blu-ray. With the technology available now I'm pretty sure they could do a serious upgrade over vhs (or video cd). I was thinking selfishly. I would buy Show & Orange on blu-ray immediately. The Stones have been mining the back catalog relentlessly with mixed results. The evidence suggests that if Robert were involved more care would be put into doing it right. Perhaps thats the issue, the time it would take. The $ to produce wouldn't be huge as the basic tapes or films already exist. There are enough true fans to support the endeavour. Of course, if it were a question of that or a new album I would want the new material!

I'm with @mort on this one. No more re-issues please. Look at what happen with LOST WISHES box set. Stick with the original format that came out first, in this case the tape, and never release it/reissue it.

What Lost Wishes Box Set? From memory Lost Wishes was only ever released as a standalone cassette. There have been several bootleg releases though - is that what you're referring to?
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
