But it has a name, no? "The Cure Tour 2016" you can read that name at all tour advertisments.
If you are going on a world tour without any new album just for fun, just for getting some bucks as your promoters told you "do it, it will sell well" naming it "The Cure Tour 2016" is the logical name.
But ... these days you'll never know. Two years ago i'd placed bets that Cure will never ever do a world tour again. Now they are adding Australia to an already imense tour and it's not that unlickely they will add Asia and / or South America too. So one can't say if there'll be any release coming too.
But just comparing it with the past years releases ... there always have rumours and informations been heard before Cure announced new albums but this time all you hear is fans saying "they wouldn't tour without releasing an album too" but no record company or promo related details have been leaked. I can't believe Cure could hide the fact that strong that there is an album coming. but as said ... these (cure-)days you'll never know ...
Maybe someday is the last time? I always assumed that song was about RS feeling totally convinced he would never make another album/do another tour, then changing his mind.
On the other hand maybe the new album will be called "Cure" or "2016" and this really is a promotional tour for a new project?
It would be so perfect if you would just fall out the window
"This Stuff Wasn't Good Enough To Release Before But We're Releasing It Now Tour" .... catchy huh?!
I have an idea it was ready to release before UMG told them they couldn't release a double album, but Bob's always fallen back on how it wouldn't be right now Porl's not part of the band. I'm hoping they've either reworked the material or written new material, but we all know Bob recycles old ideas & so he's probably got a Zappa-esque stockpile of songs ready to go.

As Porl doesn't exist any more that shouldn't be a problem.
I guess it'd depend on what he actually wrote. He'd still have a claim to royalties (& even might need to give permission) if they wanted to commercially release it. I can't see him saying no though. People will buy it & he will see a monthly royalties cheque. But his departure was a bit, shall we say, "hushed up", which leads me to think Robert probably wants to get around having to pay him his chunk. That's just speculation though. But given the non-appearance of the much lauded Wish deluxe (where Porl certainly wrote stuff), perhaps I might be onto something

As Mort said : Porl doesn't exist anymore... Pearl won't be a problem. New tunes will appear soon,i'm sure about it.

From the stuff online where RS was quoted, the departure from the band was less than amicable - remember the quotes about "one person forgetting that being in a band is like being in a marriage' or something similar.... There is online speculation that at the time 2009(?) Porl had left his wife and kids and moved to LA. So if the departure is due to something like that, then perhaps there's some animosity between RS and PT now? Animosity that is holding up the remaining 4Cure songs from seeing the light of day...
Or not.... who knows.... not us......
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
Porl totally exists and his lawyers will have something to say about it if he recorded stuff and doesn't get credit/paid for it. I'm guessing a re-record with Reeves. IF Robert wrote the tunes. Maybe an EP or a digital release, special vinyls for limited edition etc... Now who is dreaming? lol
