This album only gets two stars out of five on a lot of sites. What is wrong with these people? I first heard this in the darkened bedroom of a first (ish) boyfriend. He just put the tape on, and we commenced doing the only thing we did when we were together. (It was a great summer!) I was of two minds in the bedroom: one with lover boy, the other with Robert in the dark. I couldn't believe this strange and wonderful masterpiece was out there all that time and I had missed it. This was really a wake-up call, though. I decided then to be careful about my Cure consumption. If I needed a boost, I could tap into a new album. Message: save buying The Cure for Rainy Days. Loud and clear. ... The Top is the perfect album for young deviance. I just saw somewhere that this was the most hedonistic of the albums, and it goes back to that old magazine article with Paul Morley over on the interviews tab. High quality. Five stars.
