It would be impossible to talk about Cure videos without including what Robert Smith himself said was the best one they ever made. In homage to silent filmmaker Georges Méliès, ‘Friday I’m In Love’ features the band performing on a soundstage in front of various backdrops, with a variety of props and costumes. There are several cameos, including director Tim Pope, who is seen riding a rocking horse and shouting stage directions, as well as producer Dave M Allen, who can be seen holding props in the background. A particular quirk is the logo on Boris Williams’ kick drum, which reads “The Cures”. Filmed in just under three hours, the video went on to win MTV Europe viewers’ vote for Best Video Of The Year.

I hate to be considered one of "those people" who became a fan from Friday I'm In Love - but I am... and it was the video that was my first experience so it will always be one of my favorites.
Back when MTV played videos, we had it on in the background while my sister babysat my brother and me. We were having fun running around the house and then the video started. She made us stop what we were doing to watch it. From that moment on...I was in love - whether it was Friday or any other day... Then she asked if I wanted to listen to it again in her room.... So I did and then she kicked me out. But every single day I got home from school, for the 30 minutes I was home before her, I was in her room listening to Wish.... Until she finally gave me my own for my 10th birthday that year....
I've been listening to this many times lately. It's a truly excellent recording giving an impression of being in the middle of that wonderful crowd and at the same time of a great quality of sound. Many thanks for this to DarthBlood
I love the beginning, awaiting and real goosebumps when the chimes are starting. And then the affection when the crowd is singing loud at POY. Want is incredible, but here all the credit goes to Reeves, the intro is a knockout. FTEOTDGS and Never Enough aren't worse. Then, so wonderful to hear Prayers For Rain again. Disintegration in the way I like nowadays, always perfect, always true. Finally, the old school encore, just a pure joy.
Wonderfully played gig as always and even though with a bit tired Rob's voice, which is clearly audible here, it remains one of the best from 2019. And this recording is one of these which makes me want more and more of The Cure. Always and ever.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
