Luckily I can copy straight from record deck to USB stick via my AV Receiver, "pooter" had me puzzled, too many drugs!
Mort, for those of us looking for a similar setup, could you explain what you use? I threw out my last turntable around the release of Wild Mood Swings.
Record deck connected to AV Receiver - the AV Receiver lets me record onto a USB stick, or, I have a Blu Ray Recorder I can also use. AV Receiver has a "Pure Direct" mode so the vinyl is recorded "as is".
No need for one of those shabby usb decks. Just run a decent deck into your amp & run the outs to the pooter to capture it.
Same question for you. I would like a turntable that has one of those nice magnetic needles instead of the cheap stylus which scrapes in the groove.
If you can lay your hands on a Technics 1210 in good nick, that would be great. Otherwise, Pro-ject make remarkable turntables with a reasonable price tag. If you can't do what mort does, then run the turntable through your amplifier (the amp needs a phono stage, or there won't be any sound) & take the output from the headphones jack with a cable to the computer. Theoretically, you could use the line level outs (the ones that would normally go into a tape deck) but you might not have any control over the volume. At least with the phones jack, you will.
I saw some of your speakers on there yesterday, B & W's, collection only though. Not that I need more speakers, or would be allowed any more speakers. I don't trust used electricals, I'm dangerous with new stuff!

My 7" arrived today from Rough Trade, it's a dirty white vinyl with odd murky marks and spots in the vinyl and dust/specks on the surface. The edges are rough and it plays with s fair amount of crackle and hiss.
Have I been sent the runt of the pressing? has anyone actually played their copy - Very Dissapointed!
I had to use airmail to the USA, so god knows what the return postage will be. I'm visiting Rough Trade in NYC this weekend, so may take it with me for a refund.

Oh no. That doesn't sound right. Are you on twitter or farcebook? Try dropping the Twilight Sad a message to let them know. They have had a few problems with the pressing creating the delay, so they might be happy you let them know
My copies are also a dirty white colour - they each have a slightly marbled pattern.
Its not marbled as such, there is a big dark mark that looks like a footprint/stamp would look on cardboard and odd specks that look fluff colored. Its the fact it hisses and crackles like an old 7" that bugs me.
Has anyone actually given theirs a spin, or are they just for collectors and not expected to be played?
I have recent vinyl bought at Record Store Day, no problem with them.
Just tested all three copies and each play, all have the iffy marbled effect but I guess that's just a by product of the coloured vinyl. Sounds like you do have a dodgy copy! Like Steve says, try talking to the band on twitter, they are fairly active on there.

Thanks for checking your copies.
I've a Marantz amp that normally produces a good sound, so was expecting a good listening experience.
I'm not on Facebook or Twitter (being rather an antisocial type of gal!) so will try at the store (although they will say the mail order is nothing to do with them) or leave it to gather dust and just look good in it's cover. I prefer to have higher quality audio than MP3, so probably won't download it , even though I do like The Twilight Sad and have several of RS's specials downloaded. 'Witchcraft' is my favourite, but then I'm a fan of dark cabaret, gothic burlesque and a touch of mariachi of course.
