To be clear, this is certainly not my pet. Belongs to an aquarium. But I did bond with this cephalopod and watch it rest and respirate for about five minutes.
Er... And I've been just wondering where its eyes are...
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
My family had to put our gorgeous rescue dog in early June due to cancer which had spread throughout a few of his organs. This was completely unexpected as we had just brought him in to see the vet for a check up and we were encouraged to put him down that same day. It was awful. We all miss our sweet boy so much.

I can see the eyes, but I can't explain where they are. Duh.

Ugh, so sorry to hear of this. Putting down a pet is always awful. What a sweet looking dog. My condolences.

The pup basically became mine after my father passed away very unexpectedly last July. The dog felt like my last connection to my dad, so needless to say, it's been an incredibly difficult past 11 months.
Anyway, thank you for your kind words! Perhaps next year I'll get another recuse dog.

Awwww so sorry. What a beautiful baby. Don't you wish they could at least live a little longer than they do?

Sad and concerned. Pumix the cat feels very bad, he stops to eat. Today I've been doing really much to make him eat but the results are very, very poor. He is fading fast.
So sorry, lioness . It's very hard to see a pet get sick or age close to death.
Is Pumix old? Have you visited the vet? I'm sure he feels very cared for by you.
He's around 10 years old. I don't know exactly as he was taken from the street 4 years ago. It's she, a girl, but I still call her him, as I used to do for a few years while he lived on the street in my neighbourhood. I only fed him those days as I couldn't have taken him home as my dog was very aggressive towards him at home. Only after my dog died I took the cat.
It turned out that Pumix suffers from feline leukaemia and also renal failure. After a crisis two years ago he was fine. But three months ago he started again to feel bad. He takes drips twice a week, oral meds every day, even painful injections once a week. He has blood tests run regularly, unfortunately the results have been getting worse. His bone marrow functions worse and worse, his kidneys condition slowly worsen, too.
He held up but on Thursday started to refuse the food. I consulted two vets on Friday, tomorrow I won't go to work no matter what and try with our vet who returns from her holiday.
Oh no, trying to send you and Pumix all the good vibes and thoughts I can through the atmosphere. Much love to your furry companion. Like @notkristie said, he is very lucky to have you.
Thank you sang , @notkristie and chuckrh But... I don't have much hope...
edit: I've moved it to the Pet's Corner thread, it's the best place for that.

Similar thing happened with Millhouse. He was 10 & had calicivirus which effectively screws up the immune system. It reached the point one day when he simply could not eat at all. It's really hard to see that in a beloved friend of 10 years, but you have to do what is the kindest thing (which can also be the hardest thing). Sending hugs to you & Pumix. & I hope that whatever happens, both you & he know you have a bond that will never be the same with any other.
So sorry, to hear this, lioness. Our cat Grendel got some kind of very aggressive abdominal cancer at age 10 and we had to put him to sleep while I was pregnant. We'd been giving him drips and having the fluid in his abdomen drained when it accumulated but it got the to point where he would have days he would just barely get off his chair. Then, he'd kind of bounce back for one day, giving us hope.
Suffice to say, you are doing so much to help Pumix. I'm very sorry.
