Wow! This is great. In fact it’s just what we were all waiting for isn't it?
Move over 4:14, Wish Deluxe, Reflections Blu Rays, Orange DVD, LatAm DVD/ Blu Ray & whatever else was in the works. What we really wanted to hear was The Cure (well 3 of The Cure) who, despite Robert’s disdain for the monarchy, participate on a peer of the realm's tribute album with his equally punchable-faced son James guesting & seemingly just playing over the original b**tles song. At least the drum track’s new. There have been some great covers of b**tles songs in the past. Dear Prudence (SATB), Tomorrow Never Knows (The Mission), Day Tripper (Jimi Hendrix) to name but a few. But all of them brought a totally different sound to the songs. In the same way as The Cure’s Purple Haze & Foxy Lady did. This contribution is practically identical to the original dirge recorded by the world’s first boy band who did nothing more than invent disposable pop music & create sore throats in screaming girls. A group that lasted just shy of 10 years. The Cure have been around for what, 38 years? I so eagerly await The cover of Take That’s Relight My Fire with Gary Barlow guesting on keyboards. That would be so much more appreciated than 4:14, Wish Deluxe, Reflections Blu Rays, Orange DVD, LatAm DVD/ Blu Ray & whatever else was in the works wouldn't it?
I love The Cure. To pieces in fact. Yes, they have moments that i don’t really like, but this is (for me at least) possibly the worst. Even worse than that awful Crystal Castles thing.

I used to don't care about Beatles for the most time of my life but then I began to love 'em As many said nothing new in The Cure's version of the song but I liked the it. Made me smile Wonder if they'd play "She Loves You" would it be the same fun?
p.s. Steve - you're right new the Cure song would be way better news.
I'm trapped in my face
and I'm changing too much.
I can't climb out the way I fell in.

Looks like someone doesn't like The Beatles, eh steve? Well, me neither... I'm happy that this track came out just because even if they didn't put their touch in it, it's still better than complete silence, but of course I would've preferred a new Cure track 10000 times more! Also, seeing Robert enjoying himself improved my mood a lot If Robert is a Beatles fan, well, good for him... he probably grew up with their music, so it might have been a good memory for him to sing this song. This thought makes me happy!
If I´m remembering correctly, when the news of this Macca´s tribute was on the works, an article said one of the James McCartney´s favourites bands is The CURE and he wanted that the band were part of this tribute.
So, despite the fact that this cover barely has The CURE trademark sound, Robert seems happy in his unique silly way, the opposite of Simon.
Maybe this controvertial move is part of Robert´s "master plan" to attract new audience to the vast CURE music catalogue, (e.g. playing almost only hits since very long, long time with very few exceptions), instead of focusing in finishing the countless projects he´d mentioned for years which none of them has been released to date.
The real point is that Robert is free to do whatever he wants, though the most of the fans we´re still craving for something totally fresh and brand new, including the 4:14 Scream.
This cover works and that´s it. Just another simply collaboration and nothing more.
I¨m honest, I really don´t like Beatles and I can´t recognize more than 5 or 6 songs, and I´m pretty sure that this cover won´t have a high rotation on my playlist, but this is the gift of the week and I´ll be listening to it with the deep wish over the back of my mind that Robert will end up finding the right path to going back on the track.
In the meantime, we have this song and hundreds more to satisfy our inner insatiable Hungry Ghost of CURE.
There Was Nothing in the World that I Ever Wanted More than to Feel You Deep in My Heart...
