It's a bunch of photos that weren't considered good enough to be used when they were taken all collected together in one book.
I got a copy as a birthday present the year it came out, but had only looked through it once before pulling it out last night.
You do have a point, steve. The inclusion of contact sheets at that size irritates me, for one. There are a few in-studio shots I like and maybe a couple of the outdoor ones but yes, largely I think they do not stand alone, especially in this format.
Some of the ones like the earlier concert photos might do better on a large scale, but they don't work in a book that isn't even coffee table sized. Save
It might have worked better if there had been some narrative or back story behind the different shoots perhaps. & yes, it's way too small
Agreed. And I do think the odd formatting for the text (placement on the page, spacing, some words backwards) kind of serves as a distraction technique from the photographic content. I can't really find a justification to use that kind of formatting, otherwise...
It was really depressing looking at this book for an entirely different reason (and maybe this is why I critique the text so much ): How much longer will I be able to put off reading glasses. Don't get me wrong, glasses are rad, but time is slipping away. Save
