I have it on good authority that the band will be playing a 7 hour version of Forever as dedicated to Caroline.
Hello Mr Basket, did you have a fun time? You joined us in the pub, I was the bloke talking nonsense, hmmm ok, I was the bloke talking more nonsense than the others - not as much as Ethel though.
If only tonight I could write A post for the Guardian If only tonight I could write Something meaningful Then Robert would scream With CAPS LOCK on ... .. .

I did indeed! It was nice to meet you GOD and co. I think I overheard you two talking about astronauts?
I gotta say that I was just a little disappointed that RS responded to the reviewer. I mean, I TOTALLY understand the inclination to do so but of all the things they've done over the years, I was hoping he'd have thicker skin. Part of the game of putting yourself in the public eye is that you open yourself up to all sorts of criticism - good and bad - but replying to negative criticism always just seems to invite more of it. I have to admit, I cringed a little while reading his missive to the reviewer.
I thought it was great. Sometimes you have to speak out. Just because he usually let's things slide, doesn't mean he has to always be a doormat. One of the things I think that triggered it is when she complained about the length of the concert. From the very beginning he has always said he will always give the people their money's worth (thanks to his disappointment at the David Bowtie show he went to when he was a kid). What is it her business if The Cure want to play three hours? I was pleased he said something.

What set him off was the fact that the reviewer said the band had read the review and they liked it. That is why he replied. If the reviewer hadn't lied RS probably wouldn't have said anything.

No, i totally hear that. a few bands ago, I was always doing damage control for a singer who took every bit of bad press personally and responded accordingly and it was probably that experience that set off my cringing. But even when the reviewer made up that the band had liked the review (I mean, SERIOUSLY??) there are other ways of handling that that make her look like a twit without going full bore.
The whole thing was kind of a head-scratcher from the start. You have on one hand a reviewer that probably knew Lovesong and Friday I'm in Love all of a sudden presented with a marathon set of 46 songs that she was probably ready to walk out of after an hour and then you have a band who is clearly doing something they know is special for their fans who is miffed that it completely sailed over her head. If there's one thing I've learned about this band and their fans is that passions run high.
Anyway, I hope nobody thinks i'm talking smack about RS here... I'm just looking for things to talk about so I can get my post count up to 50 so i can re-join the ranks of the show traders.
Totally hear you & I think that from time to time Bob has one capri sun too many & decides to unleash on someone. This time being a somewhat second rate music journalist who would be better assigned to one direction shows where she would remember their back catalogue having seen it all on telly, instagram & farcebook.
